My favorite 3D fighter and a top sports game. Tecmo sure knows how to appeal to my sensibilities. Became an instant fan after playing the first game on Saturn.

The volleyball is actually fun for me. The date/sim elements are awful. The series still is good to me.

This. It is kind of interesting how it utilized licensed tracks to build a "beach vibe" sound, I don't know what it's called but it adds to the mood. I'll vote for "Turn it up" for what I liked in the first game.

DOA is probably my favorite 3D fighting game series. I was hooked when I first played it on Saturn. Friends and I played it a lot and thought it was a cool unknown fighter which had no exposure in the US. The series is on the tier with Bloody Roar series, Rival Schools/Kikaioh, and Soul Calibur/Edge. I find Tekken in the bottom tier, just above shit tier of Mortal Kombat games. Love the games so much they are essentially system sellers for me, exactly why I am ruining my butt for the 3rd straight year to win a Taco Bell X1X so I can try Last Round.

The original had very cool character designs.

I actually liked it a lot more than Virtua Fighter. The characters were more interesting, and it didn't have a stupid guard button and instead holding away to guard, which felt more intuitive. Instead it has a hold/free button allowing for parries which look great in the context of a fight.

I like the games enough, that I feel they are system sellers to me. I just wish I had the money for a PS4 and Xbox One X to play the new editions.
