It was hot for the year on the new launched N64 as the console was starved for good games and the original trilogy re-relase mania helped. Few people after 1997 ever mention the game ever again though.
They consider it a top 3 seller that year, but all it had to contend with besides mario 64 was... pilotwings 64? Maybe cruisin USA? The N64 had a shit launch.

The point is, it was very quickly forgotten not long after it came out which is the point of the thread.
