Cool thread, I have some games I actually would love to share that I normally never get the chance to post about.

War of the Dead is a really post apocalyptic survival horror adventure games. There are two games in the series both on the MSX2 and a updated port to the PC Engine. The first game is closer to Zelda II as it transitions to a side scroller for combat but the second game keeps a consistent overhead view. To be honest the MSX2 versions are pretty rough but I think the PC Engine version is pretty solid I feel, shame the sequel never got the same treatment. For anyone interested a fan translations for the PC Engine version of the first game was made as well as one for the sequel, not sure if anyone translated the first game's original MSX2 release.

The War of the Dead series is an interesting example of early horror gaming, pre-dating Sweet Home by a couple of years. The first one is basically a horror-themed Zelda II-like. It's a bit overly linear and fetch-questy. The second one is strictly top down and really slow-paced.
