Via something that was never mentioned, seen, or implied to be needed at all. That's a retcon anon. It added nothing, explained nothing and only created more questions, like where the fuck was the Frozen Flame before Zeal fell, or why was it never mentioned at all. You can headcanon answers to these questions, like you headcanon a lot of other shit that Cross does, but if they hadn't retconned shit then these headcanons would not be needed at all.

It's not the most egregious retcon, I'll grant you that (why the fuck did they feel the need to change the appearance of Schala's pendant to picrel?) but a retcon nonetheless.
