Well, I mentioned this. Chun is an S-tier character, that's for sure. She has no hard match-ups at all, and barely any fair ones. This resulted in some rather embarrassing situations like picrelated.

In SBO results from all years, the winning teams (2 or 3 players) always had Chun Li. The few times Chun didn't take EVO, it was done by Yun instead (and Daigo never won 3S on EVO).

But still, people do play with different characters. Ken, Urien, Makoto, Akuma, Oro, Dudley, or even Yang and Alex often make it surprisingly high on the winners lists, beating weaker Chun Li players. There have been cases where Q and Hugo made it quite far. There's still a good choice of decent characters, especially when you aren't exactly going for EVO.

And Chun-Li and Yun are far from "pick us to win". They require a lot of skill and understanding to play at full power.
