Ohh I don't mean in this thread specifically more the board in general. All the guys who piss and moan about modern gaming and the general state of the world sound like cranky old men to me. I just think it's kinda funny. Also the implication that most older people dislike current gaming which some people here will say is also just surreal to me. I love /vr/ but it does feel like bizarro world in some ways. That's part of the fun though.

It might be just different philosophies. I've never been interested in playing through as many games as possible, I tend to try a bunch until one really clicks and then focus on that. Not saying yours is wrong, it's iust different enough from mine it seems odd. But whatever, the point about cheating is that I feel at high difficulties in old fighters especially, beating them does feel like cheating because all you're doing is spamming exploits.

I agree, but I think single player mode is absolutely terrible for that. And I'm not talking about playing them being work, it's the total opposite. I don't talk up how great player vs player fighting games are because I think it makes me special at all. I do it because I think single player is a bad representation of how incredibly fun the games can be. And nor just at high level. Two people new to a game can have just as much fun as two tourney bros.

Like I said earlier, if you enjoy it then have a blast. Just like all the folks who like Beat Em Ups, I don't have to agree with what someone else finds fun. But if the subject comes up I'm going to give my opinion. I really do think these are some of the best games ever made.

Agreed, but this isn't censorship. These are products designed for mass consumption to profit a corporation. It's much closer to changing the color paint on a G.I. Joe toy to make it sell more than it is censoring a work of literature for artistic reasons.

I've almost always played on pad and mostly KoF over the year. It's all plenty do-able. In reality, pad, stick and keyboard are all very equal, it all comes down to what you build your muscle memory on. It really is all practice practice practice till your fingers are used to it.

Well I wasn't the first one to bring up the term, I just agreed with it. But I say time waster because at least to me, video games are purely about entertainment. As opposed to say drawing, woodworking, hunting or music, it's not something I spend time on because I want to build a useful skill. It's something I spend time on purely for the enjoyment of it. Same as reading, watching tv, hiking and the like.

And that's not a bad thing. Sometimes wasting some time and just doing something for the pure simple joy of it is perfect. Like I say, sometimes video games are a great way of "wasting" some time.
