Yeah, that statue is really nice looking.
I'm also fond of the demon statues in the dancing ghost boss room from Castlevania IV.
Fuck, this series has such good art.

The lack of actual platforming element makes it lose some points to me. I prefer Classicvanias, they're a joy to look at, and also a real joy to play through.
Also, not denying the impressive artwork on SOTN, it really is gorgeous, but it took some sprites from older games like Rondo and Castlevania IV. Just a testament at how good spritework on the older games were.

>castlevania 4 has bad graphics

Is this the new hot meme in CV threads?

AVGN was one of the reasons possible, but you could also hate it because it's popular, or because it's on Nintendo.
And it's not me even being paranoid, I can search for archived CV threads were people here say "fuck off AVGN fanboy" when people say they like IV.

Again, please explain to me what does "generic" means to you, because I think IV has a legit good art direction, same as the other Castlevanias. Art direction and music were always the strongest points in CV games.

My favorite has to be the dancing ghosts from stage 6 on SCV IV.
First of all, I like the concept of having to fight a dancing ghost couple, it's bizarre, but extremely fitting for Castlevania.
I also like that you need to use the small platforms around them to jump back and forth while they dance, it feels like you're actually dancing with them, so to speak.
I don't really have any trouble with them anymore, I can get through them without getting hit once, but I used to die to them a lot because I was too impatient and attacked them instead of avoiding them and attack only when they're open when they do the sword attack (or if I manage to be quick enough to turn back mid-air and hit them with the whip for chip damage, but most of the damage I do when they do the sword or lance attack, allowing me to attack them from below with a sub-weapon like the axe).

Some other favorites include werewolf on X68000 and yeah, Granfalloon is also amazing.

Probably unpopular, but this is my favorite Castlevania boss fight.
I like how unlikely yet absolutely fitting the idea of a dancing ghost couple as an actual boss is.
The fight is mostly an exercise of precision and timing, You can't stay on the same place except when they do their sword stab move in mid-air. It feels like you're dancing around with them. Everytime I fight them it feels satisfying as fuck, I almost never fuck up now but they used to kick my ass back in the day.

>All other castlevanias are easy yes but that doesn't excuse 4 for being so piss easy a down syndrome baby could beat it after his fingers were damaged from frostbite.

Boy, you sure sound mature and willing to have an intelligent discussion.

>too ez ez pc

I hate this cliche, I really do, but games don't depend on the difficulty alone to be fun. To be honest, no, I don't see Bloodlines or Rondo being harder than IV is. Not saying IV is hard, I'm just saying I don't consider Bloodlines or Rondo particularly harder than IV. IV has some easy bosses, Rondo and Bloodlines have some really, really easy and short levels. They're still fantastic games though, if I wanted to play only for difficulty, I wouldn't be playing Castlevania that much to be honest, there's other harder action games out there.

>the spritework has been disputed and proven to be better on the other games.
Who? the guy who claimed that IV's sprite animation was bad and when someone else refuted, he responded with "no u have low standards, my opinion is better"? That hardly proven anything at all. IV has pretty good spritework not only in the characters but also in the backgrounds and game architecture.
I hate to have to be defending IV this much because, honestly, it's not my favorite Castlevania. I'm a Dracula's Curse fan, and to be honest, out of the 16 bit games, I like Rondo the best. But the IV hate is so ridiculous and full of hipster bullshit that I can't help but defend IV. It really is not a bad game and no matter how much of a contrarian faggots full of shit you bunch are, people will never consider IV a bad game, I'm sorry.
