It was probably a case of taking liberties with the translation, so they could just do another, more accurate translation.

Between the MiSTer getting PS1 support and learning about HDD loading for PS2 games via a network adapter, I'm getting back into the PlayStation as a platform.
Picked up a could of the best DS2 revision, but is the guy above right about the 3000x series units being the best?

Wow, you sure haven't played many JRPGs. Certainly not a Saga game. You probably also think that Dragon Quest games require grinding, because you don't understand when and where to use your magic.
Many RPGs do have shitty boring combat systems, though, and most have shitty boring stories. Check out the Saga games if you want both, or turn to SRPGs for gameplay.

To be honest there's nothing really bad about Toriyama's artstyle either. Also probably most of the times it isn't even mocking, but people being genuinely surprised to see Toriyama art. Other than Tobal, I think he didn't did anything for video games.
That said, in Japan DB and DQ are kinda contemporaries. DB started earlier, but around the time he worked for DQIII, he was doing the 23rd tenkaichi/start of Z in the manga.
The best thing about him is the monster design though. DB doesn't have too many monsters, Dr. Slump has more stuff that looks DQ-like.
