Some even prefer SeX dpad to Saturn dpad.

PlayStation d-pads are crap and only look good in comparison to even worse competition. They all pale in comparison to the almighty Saturn d-pad.

That one's cool, but I prefer the dpad and shoulder buttons on this model

This. Saturn d-pad is the best for fighting games and the most comfortable on your thumb.

The Saturn Pad is difficult to map controls to via emulation because of how many buttons it has. Is it worth getting something like a retro bit Sega Saturn USB controller just for emulation? I only want to emulate a few Saturn games.

Before I buy this I'd like to ask your opinion. Is it better for fighting games than the Dualshock 4?
Yeah not necessarily retro games but a retro controller

>circular d-pad
>too large to comfortably press opposite directions in quick succession
>no center pivot, leading to a floaty feeling and phantom directional presses
>asymmetrical button sizes
>uneven face button spacing
Yeah, no thanks... I really never understood what people liked about this controller at all.

that is the regular controller my friend, pic related was the second distribution

>>4910732
I agree, it's fine but the top shoulder buttons, but the second dist. is a bit more comfortable imo

I've beaten Burnout Paradise with this... Well, actually it's a USB imitation with a fragile D-pad.

Morning /vr/, been doing some research into classic controllers (mainly looking at innovations and stuff) and it got me thinking, what's your favourite controller and what do you love about it? Is comfort more important than features for you?

Pic related for me, I've got quite large hands and it's super comfy; could use it all day. Love the Neo Geo CD's too but never owned one.

I personally prefer the second Saturn controller over the Super Nintendo controller, more for it having 6 face buttons than for the d-pad. It's pretty subjective, especially cross-shaped vs round. I've actually become a pretty big fan of the 360 controller and its d-pad becomes fairly similar to a Saturn one if you add a spacer.

Of course, arcade sticks are a whole additional category.

Saturn controllers have a "plus-sign" shaped piece of nylon inside the controller under the D-pad. The pad is raised above this and that's what gives the pad the "rocker" feel as opposed to the mushy feel of a Nintendo 64 or PlayStation controller.

What if you cut a plus shaped piece of nylon and put it under the Dpad of another system's controller? Will it be improved?
