Taper of sacrifice for illumination because it's lighter than a lantern and light spells are too bothersome.
The pack is emptied
The bedroll is my sixth or so because it's the part I throw away when I need more room.
I also collect potions, wands and scrolls and deposit them at key locations.

I may try to ditch the mail to get the breastplate of additional protection from an accessible part of level 8 but that would completely cripple my remaining load capacity for the talismans and other necessities.
