Haven't been into jRPGs as a genre at all for years, but now various circumstances prompted me to pick up Final Fantasy VII again.

And it's still great. Played through the Shinra escape, felt pumped as fuck. Game's good, fuck the haters.

Anyone else love the game but hate the FMV's? They just feel so out of place and the character models look really awkward to me.
I would have much rather had more content in place of the videos. Even if it's just another generic town or dungeon.

Call me delusional, but I believe FF7 sowed the seeds for all modern games. MGS helped also by making military themed games much more prevalent.
