Eh, not really, except there's not room for it on the back of the N64 and launch playstations (later revisions have plenty of space).
But since you need to mod N64's to get RGB anyway, and since I have later playstation units, that's fine.

Just cut open the housing on original connectors and solder to them.
For PS1/PS2, there's also this thing, for the guncon. I got mine for $3 locally. SCPH-1160. Provides convenient breakouts.
