>Corvus (Heretic)
Last survivor of his race and wizard. Hard to place his power.
Gameplay same as Doomguy but better due to consumables. Busted if allow him to transform enemies into chickens.
>Caleb (Blood)
Wiped out a cult of whom he was a part of himself and absorbed the powers of the god they worshipped, so he's definetly far more than a mere human now.
Gameplay wise he's far more agile and capable of jumping unlike BJ/Doomguy/Corvus, so he's at an advantage against them. Also has consumable healing like all Build protagonists do and a well rounded arsenal, and dual wielding on top of all that.
>Ranger (Quake)
Is still just a dude even though he killed a lot of eldrich monsters.
Gameplay his weapons could use some work considering against whom he's up against but his mobility is unmatched. Strong hitscan needed to kill.
>Doomguy
Slaughtered a lot of demons but at the end of the day he's just an angry man similarly to Ranger.
Gameplay wise there's not much to say, has the "default" weapon set. No good on demand consumables
>Duke Nukem
Is just human but is somehow capable of tanking multiple suicide drones blowing up in his face despite wearing no armor so he's a far tougher dude than doomguy or ranger
If he hits anyone with the shrinker they're instantly dead. Otherwise he's fine.
>B.J. Blazkowicz (Wolf3D)
Peak participation award, he's just a grounded hitscanner with pathetic mobility. Lorewise not comparable to anyone on the list either.
>Lo Wang (Shadow Warrior)
Horny chinese man would probably be able to 1v1 all the others on the list in melee since he is a trained master swordsman. Not so sure at range esp since we are taking away nukes. Blowing up a evil ninja supercorp also isnt as impressive as killing a god or entire alien invasion
Has good consumables and movement like all the other Build characters, also on hand invisibility.

Absolute fucking dogshit. Gaydon Fagman is the worst protagonist of all time. Half-Life killed the Golden Age of FPS which began in 1992 with the release of the shareware episode of Wolfenstein 3D and ended in November of 1998 with the release of Cringe-Life.

Know what I hate? How modern young Wang from the new Shadow Warrior games has replaces old Wang from the originals. Like you have all this art of Duke and Caleb and then fucking young nuWang because old Wang is "problematic". This art is probably one of the only good ones with old Wang besides official stuff from back then.

The Golden Age of FPS began with Wolfenstein 3D in 1992... It died on November 19, 1998 with the release of Half-Life.

It was an age marked by countless great shooters, all with maximum amounts of soul. But then came Half-Life and it all disappeared.

The gameplay is poor in comparison to most FPS’, but is an out-right joke compared to games of the era that require... you know, actual enemy prioritisation, quick on your feet thinking, using the right weapons in the right scenarios, staying on the move and using unique movement styles to your advantage, having to explore the environment for resources, having to keep ammo in mind constantly etc. etc. Half-Life’s balancing in all regards is awful and its mostly hitscan oriented gameplay doesn’t work when you have innaccurate weapons and fast moving (and firing) enemies that force you to stay out in the open to kill anything, except you can’t avoid taking damage outside of taking cover due to the very nature of hitscan. And platforming is annoying when your movement is frustratingly slippery. Who the hell has ever enjoyed the platforming elements of Half-Life? And apparently Half-Life has puzzle elements, but I don’t know, unless you’re 5 years old I’m not sure how anything about this game is puzzling... except of course how it managed to grow such a butthurt community of fanboys. Half-Life’s combat sucked then and it sure as hell sucks now in retrospect. It’s aged like already sour milk.

It fucking sucks and it killed FPS. It ushered in the Dark Age of FPS.

Half-Life's release marked the death of the Golden Age of FPS 1992-1998. There were still some good shooters released after that time but not many. It began the Dark Age which we are still in today.

Each would have access to their core arsenal but no power up items such as Quad Damage or Berserk Packs
