The "idea" of new classes or playstyles is fine, and is probably the only other way the Doom after Doom:E could move forward in its gameplay.
I agree that a new character would be pointless. It need only be something like a "suit core" that changes how NewDoomguy's abilities work.

I've seen so many discussions on franchises reboots but how about a Turok reboot/sequel?
Yes, there was a reboot in 2008 but that kinda sucked. Prey 2006 felt more like Turok.
Anyway, I think an upgrade system would be neat,for example you start with a bow, then you level it up and becomes a Tek bow.
It could avoid the arsenal to feel cluttered. Keep the Cerebral Bore, it's iconic.
About Turok himself, either Joshua or Tal'Set would be fine, not a fan of Danielle and Joseph.
More power ups like using thunders and summon animal spirits as companions.
A berserk mode where you wield two tomahawks and slash the enemies, like the katana in Shadow Warrior.

Anything else?
