I'm thinking of making a "Starter Pack," which is a short list of "essential" games (only 4-7 games, not 50 like on /v/'s recommended), for each console. So far I can only think of a list for the N64:

Super Mario 64
GoldenEye 007 (or Perfect Dark)
Mario Kart 64
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (or Majora's Mask)
Banjo-Kazooie
Donkey Kong 64

Ideas for games on other consoles are appreciated. Remember, these lists should be short (preferably 6 or 7 games max) so that people can easily get acquainted with these consoles though these games (hence the name "Starter Pack"). In other words, if someone is buying a console for the first time, the "Starter Pack" is a list of the first games you would recommend to that person.
