I (not OP) looked at my Terranigma strategy guide and it credits Matsunori Iwamoto and Hirofumi Hikosaka for the illustrations, and four other people from "Work House Co., Ltd." for "Concept and Design" of the guide book.
Link is a french copy of that same guide (basically translated from the German one):

I guess Katsuya Terada really did all the Club Nintendo artwork, the guide has a different art style, anyway. The Terranigma comic, however, looks much more similar to what's been posted in the thread. Unfortunately, it only seems to credit "Work House Co., Ltd." for the art and nobody specific.
It always seemed funny to me, them having the art redrawn for Western audiences by a Japanese artist with a more Western style. But I guess since everything had to be approved by the Japanese parent company, it was easier for them to just get a domestic artist do do it.
I think I once saw some translated reactions to the westernized Terranigma art by Japanese netizens. Basically, they didn't get it, and thought only the Elder and Dr. Beruga looked good. And those two were virtually unchanged (see above).
You don't happen to have more, OP?

It was this one, somewhat recently. Not because I needed it or anything, but Terranigma is my favorite and these guides are really comfy, for lack of a better word.
Guides like these actually came with the games in a "big box" in place of a manual. There were a few other titles like Secret of Mana, Illusion of Gaia etc. where that was the case.
I only own thise one, but as far as I know they were all exactly 72 pages long. They were enough to get you through the game, but due to the page limit I guess they wouldn't always be able to show 100% of the game. Certainly not the case for Terranigma. For example, they don't mention items you get from subareas on the world map or where to get all magirocks (not even a list). I also noticed that at least one magirock location is not indicated on the appropriate map. There are small errors right in the beginning, i.e. a picture of a strength potion shown but it being called life potion.
Flipping through this guide really makes me nostalgic even though I owned neither it nor the game back in the day. Probably because it reminds me of cheesy 90's gaming magazines.
