No, sadly I was not fully in the PCE ecosystem while it was live, but mostly targeted games I knew of from what I read in magazines of the day. Being broke meant I got the games/systems when the Playstation was hot and current for their bargain price. I have not played Be Ball, admittedly the only multiplayer PCE games I ever played with others were the Bomberman games.

While I do like particular games that aren't popular nor favored with many, there's still many in various genres I do enjoy. Besides, if I were to choose favorites, the shooting games would overwhelm those other standouts.

It all depends on what you like. I had that console from the mid-90s, and there were a lot of CD games that I found worthwhile. What kinds of experiences are you looking for?

I wish I had your capabilities. I figured such work would be tedious and difficult which is why not many are able to perform repair work. It is probably more lucrative for other aspects of engineering too, so I understand the high price for such expertise. There will be less and less of such working devices in the future and it is a shame.

I like the Strikers games by Psikyo, but not the 194X series by Capcom. The one that is on the SuperGrafx is one in the Capcom series. I mostly get games I am interested in, and I am aware my taste in games are pretty uncommon so I'm okay with having only 4 of the 5 SuperGrafx exclusives, but I won't say "no" if the last one is cheap.

>>9748695
I believe 1943 Kai is a standard HuCard release which I also passed on. The SuperGrafx release is 1941 Counterattack, which I think is a very different game in the same series. Haven't paid much attention to that specific series so I have no idea what is the release order of the titles.

Rayxanber 3 has really good pixel art. Reminds me a lot of Irem and Metal Slug style in pixel art. The game is really difficult and I've not finished them yet. The good weapon is the best but you'll have to put up with its noise.

I liked the shooting games on the system. I don't often see much mention of Override, but that's one I like which isn't often mentioned probably because it is HuCard instead of CD-ROM.

Lucky, the repros I can find tend to be well over $100USD. It has forced me into getting the early SD-System^3 with possible audio/video issues.

I like a lot of the shooting games on the PC-Engine they are fun and interesting. Almost all my favorite consoles have great shooting games but I don't think one stands above any other in that category.

NEC electronics used to have really appealing looks to me. Their computers and consoles are all very good looking. The blue and cool grey looks especially good on the printing of "Super Grafx" which the pic cannot capture the fine texture and I have no idea how they did it because it lasts the test of time. I wanted the CoreGrafx2 >>6705727 has since it matches the orange and warm gray Super CD-ROM^2 better. I think the best looking is the original white PC-Engine in the briefcase Interface Unit with the original white CD-ROM^2. That combination is tied with the Victor Wondermega as my favorite console design aesthetics.

The SD-System^3 has the Arcade Card built in, so you do not need any of the boot TurboChip/HuCards. It does everything you'd want with the system: ODE for CD games, flashcart for TurboChip/HuCards, RGB output, extra and less volatile save bank, and a space saver.

They were not pricey, that's part of what made them so worthwhile back in the late 90s. A lot of fun for poor videogame fans. It was a shame they system and games were not more popular, but on the other hand, they may not have been so cheap if they were popular.

That is the sad reality of playing retro games with the original hardware. Repairs and workarounds will be needed as time goes on. Maybe Analogue will consider an Analogue TG or some Mister core will be fully developed to help with us fans of the PC-Engine.

>>6643605
Yes, that's exactly what's on the VHS. I am glad they swapped Dungeon Explorer for Ninja Spirit as part of the pack-in bundle as Ninja Spirit is more aligned with my tastes. I think Tony Hawk produced the Lords of Thunder VHS promo video, too. The games on the TurboDuo/PC-Engine appealed so much to me back then. I guess free VHS tapes and magazines were how I coped with being poor and imagining the great games, until they became cheap enough to own.

Actually quite the opposite, I am looking for something with a higher wage. I just happen to have kept what I had from back then. YOU MUST DESTROY THEM, THE EARTH IS COUNTING ON YOU, GOOD LUCK.

>>6536524
It is not really bragging, the pic is just to show I do enjoy shooting games even with homing shots. I actually like the Saturn, it's a top 5 console to me. The ports are pretty good to me, but I also enjoy playing it via MAME as well.

>>6536530
I would like to own them all too, but they are really expensive last I saw, and based on what I have read here the prices may have gone up since. I didn't really have much money then, and I still don't now, so I just got what was cheap back then. I do have a few more not pictured like Batsugun, the Tatsunoko one, and Battle Garegga, but I was never really a collector, just got what was on discount.

Fortunately there are ports of various Parodius games everywhere. Bound to stumble upon it somewhere.

>>6257115
I actually like the Sega Saturn. I think the ports are well made and play great. It is sort of like an extension of what was so great about the PC-Engine. I think I would reserve the "Shitty Ports: The Console" moniker to either a Tiger Electronics device or Atari 2600.

That is the game which got me to get the other Summer Carnival games. It is one of my top 25 NES/Famicom games. Wish I could afford it, so I have to settle for a flashcart to play it. Very impressive that it runs so well on the Famicom.

Why, I have a VHS tape edited by Tony Hawk which explains it: https://youtu.be/gutOIb2hQS8
Basically the Super CD-ROM^2 is an addon whic like the TurboDuo, where the system 3.0 card is not necessary as it is built in, while the TurboGrafx-16 and PC=Engine will need the upgrade card to play Super CDs. The categories of RAM needed are based on the upgrade card used with the CD-ROM
-CD-ROM^2
-Super CD-ROM^2
-Arcade CD

>>5745893
Off the top of my head, there's the Ys games, Legend of Heroes games, Emerald Dragon, Cosmic Fantasy games, Exile games, Far East of Eden games, etc. There quite a variety of genres represented on the system, I even can think of a few fighting games I liked on it.

I will be here for fans like you. Keeps me going.
