>listen to The Offspring
>Gel your hair into spikes
>Matrix, Fight Club, bunch of other great movies were fresh and new
>Get hyped about how PS2 was going to be the best thing ever in the universe
>probably still collecting Pokemon cards
>3rd edition Warhammer 40k, best edition
>Playing arena shooters against bots because parents wouldn't let you actually go online
>Printing out guides from GameFAQs
>Wasting your time on Shockwave/Flash games when you were allowed online
>Repeatedly playing the trial period of b-grade MMORPGs like Legend of Mir and Myth of Soma

I don't actually want to go back. I have good memories, sure, but there's something really bittersweet about all of it. Knowing that there are legitimately sci-fi super-technologies like VR just barely becoming viable toady makes me feel like I was born at the worst possible time.

Too late for the (actual) boomer golden age of Western society, too early for the cool cyberpunk dystopia it's going to become; but just in time for the really boring bit in between.
