You understand that he prepared the ground first, right? Like, clearly, the only reason why Joker and Carnage are in that place is because Joker wants them to be. That escape hatch was probably set up days ago. The whole plan was set up days ago. He set up the entire scenario specifically to kill Carnage.

Joker says he's all about chaos, but it's just as bullshit as everything else he ever says. The dude plans meticulously, at least as much as Batman.

If you specifically limit yourself to Earth he's pretty high up there. He's stronger than almost any other Earthling except for the ones who have superpowers that specifically give them super-strength like Hulk, Colossus, Juggernaut or Strong Guy (yeah, I remember him!). When you combine it with the fact that he's also got absurd speed, agility, reaction times, no obvious weaknesses, and the Spider-Sense, and yeah, Spider-Man could mop the floor with the vast majority of Earthlings.

No particular resistance or defenses against psychics, though, so those can shut him down pretty damn quick.

Evidently not, since he didn't. Comics always display thier characters with wildly different power scales from issue to issue and writer to writer. There is very little consistency, and given that this is the Joker and Carnage together this is clearly not a canon DC or Marvel comic and thus we have no idea how strong this particular iteration of Carnage is, given that "Spider-Man and Batman: Disordered Minds" takes place in a universe where Batman and Spider-Man just exist in the same setting from the word "go" (i.e., no one's crossed universes).

Evidently they don't, since the writer got paid for that AND the comic is still remembered to this day. Writer did his job, which was to entertain. The first, last and only job of a writer is to put butts in seats and keep them there. Everything else after that is window dressing.

Yeah I know, it's mostly because they needed to think of bigger and grander stories to sell more comics. It was also back before when powers weren't getting to absolute crazy levels (Wolverine wasn't invincible, Flash wasn't bonkers, Batman wasn't fighting literal gods and winning, etc.)

Batman would at least have the advantage of some people tolerating his existence. Other heroes wouldn't really go out of their way to kill him or anything. Joker on the other hand randomly kills thousands of people for fun. Batman started literally murdering people instead of bringing them to justice. The problem wasn't that the Joker literally get murdered in his first appearance. The problem is that the big two major characters are trapped into an undying limb where as long as they continue to sell they aren't allowed to die ever and their story must continue forever instead of reaching a natural conclusion.

>literally EVERYONE would be tired of his shit.

One story arc I'd love to do for a Batman comic some day would sort of center on this Just a twelve-issue run. In the first issue, The Joker has escaped from Arkham again, is getting ready to do his thing, Batman is out looking for him...but the end of the issue involves some random cop spotting The Joker, pulling his gun, and in the resulting shootout The Joker is shot through the heart. Batman is, like, on the other side of the city, nowhere near.

Second issue is The Joker bring brought to a hospital but there's no real hurry. At least one doctor is in full Code Blue mode because Hippocratic Oath and all that but for the most part it's brought up that all they have to do is NOTHING and The Joker stops being a going concern, forever. Issue ends with Batman arriving at the hospital, just as The Joker is pronounced dead.

The remaining ten issues are given over ot the next year in Gotham and the ripple effects caused by the fact that the Joker is dead and gone.

He'd come back, of course; just as DC would never kill off Superman so we all knew the death of Superman wasn't going to stick, the same thing would be going on here (bluntly the Joker is too profitable a villain). Lazarus pit or something, we can work it into a later arc. But for just a little bit I'd like to see what could be done where The Joker is definitely, 100% dead. Not some kind of clown spirit possessing people (the fuck was that arc about, anyway?), not missing and presumed dead, just actually dead.

ALL consistency in big 2 comics is shit, at least from a power scaling standpoint. That's what happens when a writer wants to tell a story where X happens but runs the risk of contradicting something that happened over decades of character history and across dozens of different writers with different ideas.

I think I prefer manga in that regard. There's still power scaling bullshit and inconsistencies but at least it isn't because of this.

>> No.72078286

My big problem is that there can never be any true impact. Major events are brushed aside, or even outright ignored, even if its supposed to be a big universe spanning event, like the aftermath of shit like WW Hulk or Civil War. It's obvious that a lot of authors just want to get back to THEIR things. And character deaths. No one is ever allowed to die and stay dead.

Out of western comics, the only thing I can really stomach are stand alone stories. DC has plenty of good ones in that regard, like Blackest Night or Red Son.

Inconsistencies and different writers is also why both DC and Marvel just said screw it and went with the multiverse theory. Superman could do something different in the 30's? That was Earth 5435. Alfred is gay and Bruce's uncle as well as his butler? Earth 4859. Batman gets kidnapped by Azazel, imprisoned for decades in a robo body, then starts killing a lot of people? Earth -234.

But if you want to know what it says (and have absolutely no ability to infer from the obviously "Disney Princess" part) you'll have to cast "google translate" to figure it out.

The meme itself isn't clever, what's clever is that we english speakers can probably put "disney princess" and dancing animals together and figure out what the meme is without knowing the language.
So it's like we cast Comprehend Language on ourselves.

An alternate take on the joke might be a file like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuuvwXSK8mU with a title like "your character forgot to learn common"

As a player friends with another player, one time that other player said she wanted to kill her character off for no other reason than she was sick of them and the character was tied up in some drama (IC) which wouldn't ever get properly resolved (because of OOC shit). On account of a connection my character had to hers, I agreed with the condition that they didn't kill the character offhandedly and instead properly RPed it out - needless to say, another guy subbed in to DM and a brutal, surprisingly gut-wrenching death later and the other player was in tears. That's the kind of organic storytelling which makes the hobby worth it at all, I think.

1. Japan is a fairly sexually repressed country, probably the worst in the first world.
