Shroud of Night was pretty good. Interesting to see the AL walk the line between Loyalists and Heretics, with a natural tendency for Chaos, since, you know, they're traitors. The upcoming Sons of the Hydra book has me intrigued, considering it's very explicit that the leader wants redemption this time. Pretty sure it won't go that way though.

You could use real inks.
You may have to mix your own olive tone, but inks have much more vibrant colors and stronger pigment.
The only thing to consider is that they tend to dry glossy, so you'll have to matt varnish the model if you don't already do that.

If it's that cold I'd recommend standing the cans in a mug of hot water (the warmest you can stick your finger in for twenty seconds) for a couple of minutes and then shaking for a full two minutes before use.
Too cold and it won't dry and settle properly, you have to compromise between shit coverage and pooling.

What does YGGGGB mean? And this looks yellow, too much for my taste. (It is silly to argue over tastes, so I'm just pointing out that it does not pass as classic green orks for a bystander).

And yeah, I know what you mean by cartoony. I also dislike over the top bright models. I came to realisation that it is not a very good thing when your models get lost on table due being too dark. It is easy to tone down a bright model, but making dark one pop out is way harder.

>I don't know what they are successors from, and I don't know about there back story either.
You need to figure that out. The rest will come on it's own then.
If you can't think of anything at all you can always use the chapter creation tables from Deathwatch and roll some random background quirks up. It's as good a place as any to start.

Generally speaking you may have already some stuff you can work with simply because of the colors you chose. Why did you chose them?
When I look at the scheme I'm reminded of Imperial fists, especially since you got the black arm there.
Then you make the connection between the chopped off hand of Dorn that is somewhere on display and you could work that into the background of your chapter as central part of their mythology. From that you can develop a lot of other stuff already.

That's just an example though.

Here is a prime example of what I mean. Viscosity and pigment density are two completely different, mutually exclusive qualities of a paint. Yet to change either is to thin/thicken paint.

If I add a medium to a paint that is of higher viscosity than my paint, have I thinned or thickened my paints?

If we only use the one term, it's ambiguous. Otherwise, I can accurately say my new mixture is of lower dilution and higher viscosity.

They can compensate you and everyone can order johhny for a meager sum in return.

One of the non chinese ones i know especially welcomes people to send oop models to them and he will send back the original one after that.

That stuff looks big and chunky. I know when I was a student (Dave Lister: "I can't help it! I went to Art College!") we used margarita salt for some things and ordinary table salt for others - they give different effects. I bet Kosher salt, with its larger grains would behave differently from either of those two.

>Any advice?
Prime white. Expect to use several thin coats with just about any yellow from any manufacturer. Not just two, but more likely four.

If you don't get good results with paint for whatever reason try using yellow ink or white primer or the gw glazes and washes instead.

Yellow isn't inherently harder to paint, it just doesn't cover well, so you have to do a bit of planning. Priming black is a bad start for example.

Chapter is between Iron Hands and Salamanders...

The black arm is going to be because the Chapter Master plunged his arm into something (orc zappy engine of a stompa or maybe a daemon engine) and killed it, but it scorched his armor and required bionics due to the damage (good reason for Iron Hands, all neophytes have to remove the right arm for bionics). They will also use alot of thunder hammers and flamers (salamanders make sense) as well as being craftsmen. Thanks for all your help!

My opinion:
FOR THE SKIN:
- You prime White Scar/Corax White (depending on the age of your spray ^^).
- Then you go for ulthuan grey.
- You make a shade with something a bit darker and use it to shade your skin
(like 6/1 ulthuan/black and thin a lot with medium or water)
- Then you put some ulthuan on the raised flat areas to get back to something light
- You finish with some pur white line
FOR THE HAND:
- base in mechanicus grey
- shade with nuln oil
- edge with ulthuan (or if it's too light 1/1 ulthuan/mechanicus grey)

For the part between hand and skin, just do multiple nuln oil shade closer and closer to the hand and put back some ulthuan grey in the lighter part so it get light enough.

Cyanoacrylate glues (CA or superglue) does not touch the material at all (which is why it'll glue anything to anything else, whether it's glass, metal, wood or plastic).

CA glues form a crystal lattice on the surface of the material (which is also why rougher surfaces work better with CA glues than smooth ones, more contact area), which draws in a lot of water in the process.
That's why you can freeze CA glue bonds to pieces, all that bound water expands quite strongly when it freezes shattering the crystal lattice around it, and breaking the bonds.

Plastic glues break down polystyrene plastics and melt them together, there's no undoing the bond at this point, you'll need to cut it through.

Remember to freeze overnight. The glue can't just drop to freezing, it has to stay there long enough for the internal stress to cause the glue to shatter.

Even then don't expect it to come apart without a fight. Some of the lattice will break but if there's a LOT of glue you'll have 'dry bonds' that need a dose of elbow grease.

If it doesn't even creak when you pull at it, it's plastic glue, which means it's welded.
Get a sharp exacto knife and get to work.

Speaking of Caliban Green, I want to try making Power Weapon/Plasma sheen for my Marines using Caliban Green with Niblet green and an edge highlight of Stormhost for the Blades and Wrack white for the Plasma coils, question is should I use Nuln Oil, Agrax, or Drakenhof?
