She's obviously still getting her shit from Rickert judging by the arm crossbow, but It looks like she doesn't have Guts prosthetic arm so I don't think this is a complete role swap. But she wasn't mindbroken this time so maybe managed to get loose in this timeline and the Skull Knight intervened before she got raped, which probably fucked Guts up even more than the regular eclipse and led to her becoming the Black Swordswoman.

Shit, wait, would that mean Caska was still pregnant with a regular baby instead of it becoming a devil baby when she got out of the eclipse?

I would say it's not about veggies being expensive but about the woman buying the fancy ones over the filling ones. One avocado (at estimate 100 grams) is worth 1 kilo of potatoes.
Those limes are probably worth another two kilo. Rice and beans are good. Eggs are probably good too (unless they are "free range" or any of that hippies shit). The pasties look fancy too, should be regular bread instead. I see just one onion, you should add onion to everything, they are about the best value for cost, but you can't live on onion alone (or maybe you can, but then nobody can live next to you).

Also judging by the pitiful lack of substance in her shoping list id say she probably went to a high end grocer like sprouts or henrys. I budget my food at 25$ a week which you can get a whole fucking chicken and a ton of potatos and misc veggies if you shop at fucking costco for about that much.

They generally aren't. It seems like that person bought about 7 dollars of normal people food and then 22 dollars of expensive foody vegetables and shit.

Avocados and limes and shit are pretty expensive because of how hard they are to grow, and only in very specific environments. Avocados have to be shipped from Mexico or California and I think all of the limes in the US are from Mexico or Florida. Because of this, a single avocado can generally go for about $1.50 in some states.

Midway, Dan continues to look for ways to improve the comic (at one point he taught himself 3D modelling to help him visualize spaces and make backgrounds) to be precise late 2009, so very much a midpoint between now (the first three posted are roughly a year old) and the start (which I'm using fourth page to demonstrate).

Vaginas will dissolve it, and the base isn't flared so you can't put it in you butt unless you want to have an awkward conversation with a doctor.

>Are vegetables and fruit really that expensive over there?

If you shop at farmers markets or high-end grocery stores and it's out of season, and you only buy organic (which really isn't much better, it's predominantly a marketting gimmick) yes.

Typically? No. Compared to Europe, staple food (note: NOT luxury foods) is significantly cheaper in the US than Europe because we grow so much of it ourselves. While it's more expensive that generic bags of pasta or processed foods, even then shit's cheap here in Texas unless you're getting out-of-season stuff that doesn't store well, and even then it's only mildly inconvenient at worst. That other anon either lives in a poor growing climate, shops at

Giant baking potatoes are like $.25 a pound. A bag of full-sized potatoes is usually no more than $5 at the absolute most, and that's typically at least 10 pounds of potatoes or more.

Corn is currently about $.50 an ear, but in season it's often as low as $.10 an ear. That's ten giant ears of corn for a dollar, and you can do a whole lot of shit with corn.

Rice is insanely cheap, especially if you get long-grain rice ethnic to Texas.

Bell peppers and onions are no more than $.99 a pound, because we grow many of them here and in Mexico. Spicy peppers are across the board, but generally no more than $1/lb at the most.

Fruit is seasonally priced, but year-round available unless it's stuff like kiwis which don't store well (and even then it's available most of the year). In season, most apples are like $.99 a pound at most, and they're pretty big. Other fruit like strawberries, blackberries, cherries, raspberries, and grapes fluctuate according to local and Mexican harvests and Chilean harvests (our winter) respectively.

The actress in the tweet only shops at extremely high end stores, and is infamous for having no real understanding of money.

Honestly the earlier the better, but I understand that not everyone wants to wallow in the early art or the meandering plot; under the comic is a drop down to take you to various chapters:
First of all, if you just want to see if you think you'll like it I would suggest a pair of side stories called "Marker" and "Escape from the Mall" which starts here: http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=490 and goes from Marker straight to Escape from the mall

Introductions can be skipped but is short and tells you the characters names.
The Goo can also be skipped, the events are occasionally referenced but there are no cases where it doesn't also summarize the events.
Shade Part 1 is the first part that feels plot relevant, but I guess it isn't mandatory.

Skipping ahead to the start of Sister (the intermediate bits are still relevant (or April fools strip which bear no attachment to the plot whatsoever) but if you skip Shade you may as well skip to Sister) we have "Open the box" which isn't plot critical but "Read the rules" is the point where the plot really starts rolling and anything past it might not make much sense, or at least reference things happening where it is assumed you remember what happened earlier.

If the art style has really been an issue try scrolling down to Painted Black (the first part of which is called "A walk in the park"), the art style has improved, or at least changed, and it starts with a recap; it is also far enough along that you should be able to follow along as most of the effects from Sister have been resolved.

Any questions I am more than happy to answer them.

Don't get me wrong, these fucks were awful. But we had plenty of people who would buy food with their food stamps then buy a drink with actual money. But I honestly believe that all drug addicts should be shot. Edgy or not I fucking hate those people.

Never bought an avocado before, but even that literal meme food can't cost more than $2 for a single one.

Altogether that is about $21 dollars max. Where the fuck is she buying food?

Besides that, if you are pinching pennies you make sure to buy food on sale as much as possible, she could cut that down to maybe $15. Additionally, she isn't buying the rice or dry beans in bulk, which would save a fuckton, considering you can get about a 10 pound bag of rice for maybe $6. Not to mention the overall lack of efficiency here, you could cut the sweet potato and get a 5 pound bag of potatoes for about a $1.

How do people not understand how to use their money to buy food efficiently? I've lives on $20 a week before, and I ate perfectly fine, with meat and cheese and good produce and everything.

Making food cheap is fucking simple. Unless you have to feed a family of 10 on $20 for a week, you can make do just fine. And if you are in that position you have made some terrible life choices.

Now to be fair, some places in America don't have any good places to buy food. I used to live in Detroit and there are few supermarkets and they are very poorly stocked. You can go to the whole foods in the gentrified section, but that shit costs way too much to live on. You have to go pretty fucking far to get decent groceries at a decent price and the transportation options are terrible.

That being said, it was still possible, but it took quite a bit more effort on my part and I understand why someone with less time to spare wouldn't be able to manage that consistently, or at least would have trouble with it. I'm an artist who doesn't sleep, I have lots of very flexible freetime. Someone who works hard could have trouble with it, especially when you have to come home tired and then spend another 3-4 hours just to get groceries and there's a popeye's right outside your house and you have to be up early in the morning, I can understand it.

But >>53596506 is absurd, bunch of luxury food and inefficient portions. You don't buy a single piece of produce, you see what's on sale and stock up, then plan your meals around it.

Me and about 3 other people would get together once or twice a month in a big van one of the guys had. We'd make a day of it.

It's honestly one of the worst actual problems with Detroit right now. There's really not much crime here, our main problems are all to do with infrastructure. Everyone is leaving and now everyone that's left is just kinda stuck in a shitty run down ghost town.

>taple food is significantly cheaper in the US than Europe because we grow so much of it ourselves.
You sure about that? There is no point in importing food if it's not cheaper than your local production (and Europe ives massive aids to its agricultural sector).

>Giant baking potatoes are like $.25 a pound. A bag of full-sized potatoes is usually no more than $5 at the absolute most, and that's typically at least 10 pounds of potatoes or more.
Huh, I can find 10kg of potatoes for less than 5€ here, and that's outside special sales. You can always find a neaby store with 10kg for 1,50 to 2€. That's 22 pounds for $1,69.

Same with fruits, as long as you buy seasonal ones you're fine.
Now meat and fish is expensive, unless you leave in a fishing port or near a farm, or like eggs a lot.
