[ERROR] No.41870371 [Reply] [Original] [4plebs] [archived.moe]

I'm about to run a bronze-age flavored fantasy game for a bunch of people who aren't really familiar with what that entails. I want a bunch of imagery I can use to help set the mood and aesthetic, as well as use for NPCs. Can include archaic/classical greece as well, as we aren't really playing in a specific time period anyway.

Will bump with my own.

Same broad categories of instrument as today, minus keyboard. Just in simpler forms

> Harps, lyres, etc
> Woodwinds, particularly flutes, panpipes, and simple bagpipes
> Drums, duh
> Horns, though note that horns were always single-length, not variable like a modern instrument.

Also, many ancient musical theories tried to use 10 or 12 note scales. Which doesn't work very well because of the wave-physics of sound.

In Greek mythology, the Cercopes were mischievous forest creatures who lived in Thermopylae or on Euboea but roamed the world and might turn up anywhere mischief was afoot.

Zeus changed the Cercopes into monkeys. These Monkeys figure in four Minoan frescos at Akrotiri, where the monkey's ritual aspect, as servants of the divinity, acting as intermediary between humanity and the divine world.
