In Legends, it must have happened a long time ago. KOTOR tech seems pretty similar to prequel tech.

In the new canon, though, it's not clear that they HAVE hit a plateau. Although the starships used by Naboo's royal house (both the Queen's starship and the N-1 starfighters) are very pretty and have been decorated as one might expect from literally royal starfighters, it's not clear that they are any better than -- or even on the same level as -- later starfighters.

There is visible tech progression between films, as holograms move from being exclusively blue monochrome in the prequels to being in early technicolor by the time of the OT, as the Aethersprite Jedi fighter makes way for the Eta-2 Interceptor which then makes way for the TIE Fighter, as the ARC-170 evolves from an unwieldy three-man fighter to the small one-man snubfighter that is the X-Wing, as battle droids move from relying on a central computer to being independent models, etc.

This tech evolution is only more pronounced with The Clone Wars, as you see the first models of the Y-Wing and how fucking huge and chunky they are compared to the much slimmer models the Rebels would later use. Although The Clone Wars did create a major inconsistency with hologram tech, providing lifelike holograms that people mistake for the real thing in both the Obi-Wan Undercover arc and the D-Squad arc.

What's more, The Clone Wars clearly indicates that the galaxy looked very very different 1000 years ago. Here's what Darth Bane looked like 1000 years before the movies.

You also have the darksaber, an ancient lightsaber stolen by Pre Viszla's Mandalorian ancestors from the Jedi Temple during "the Fall of the Old Republic", which not only has a black blade and a very different sound but is shaped rather like a cutlass, reflecting not only different aesthetics but different technology used to build it.

>providing lifelike holograms that people mistake for the real thing in both the Obi-Wan Undercover arc and the D-Squad arc

>> No.41658993

It's because you don't realize how good shields are.

A shield cancels either a hit or a crit. It can save you from taking extra damage off a Direct Hit, it can save you from any of the myriad penalties running through the deck, any of that, AND it does so by keeping you from taking the card at ALL, not by simply keeping it facedown.

Shields are good already, but the ability to REGENERATE shields is incredible. Well worth the 3/8 risk of flipping up a facedown card. If it was a 1/2 or better chance, R2 might not be so good, but 3/8 is a healthy gamble to take, especially since the shield is guaranteed either way.

>> No.41659085

In fact, R2's astro version is good because he gives you a shield if you take a green maneuver, right?

R2's crew version lets you have a shield if you have no shields, REGARDLESS OF ANYTHING ELSE. There's a risk of paying for it by flipping up a card, but if you're at 0 shields with no cards, that means R2 is JUST a free shield every single time you hit 0, and if you're running a ship with crew slots, even if you have a few cards, you can afford the occasional flip if it comes with a free shield.

>> No.41659097

See >>41658993
but also: MF+3PO is a guaranteed 2 hits cancelled per turn.

When you're only taking ~1 damage, you're likely to lose a shield, regain with R2-D2, then lose it again next turn, BUT you never take a damage card and R2-D2 has no downside.

>> No.41659187

Try and learn the Tie move so you can attempt to predict his moves. The game is all about positioning and thinking ahead. Since he moves first use that to dictate your actions, of you're out of his arc, use a target lock, if you're in use the R2-F2's action or focus.

>> No.41659260

Is the mediafire gonna be updated with Desperate Allies soon?

>> No.41659291

I like to target lock, shoot between the TIEs with a K-turn, then blast one in the ass. After that, chase down the remaining TIE and kill it.

TIEs and X-Wings are jouster ships. They are designed to fly right at the fucker guns blazing. TIEs are designed to be flown in numbers to make up for their low survivability, while X-Wings are more durable and elite. I've also found that X-Wings tend to reward surprisingly ballsy plays more than you'd think they do.

With the generic R2, all your 1 and 2 maneuvers turn green. This means you can K-turn a LOT, because there are so many options for clearing a stress once you have one. You may not have a TIE's full maneuverability, but you've got a lot of great tricks of your own.

>> No.41659294

Just use the torrent. 8mb for the one you can search though.

>> No.41659633

I thought he meant the generic R2 also, but the core set comes with an R2-F2 which is an action that increases Agility by 1 for the round. Still pretty helpful against eyeballs.

I need help /swg/. I started playing an EotE campaign, and I am greatly enjoying it, but I feel like I'm the only one that is putting actual effort into it. Our GM is probably the least, or second least knowledgeable of the group when it comes to Star Wars, leading to him often asking me if item, species, or technology X, Y, or Z exists (out side of that, he does seem to be doing a pretty good job with it, although he is still unfamiliar with many of the game mechanics, leading to rules being greatly bent, not that that is causing any real issue so far). The other two PC's feel kind of empty to me. The first, a human smuggler, has no backstory what so ever, and is mostly just sitting quietly while pretty much anything major going on seems to be revolving around me. When he does do something, it is really out of place (such as randomly shooting a glass that a Jedi in a seedy bar is levitating). He is kind of getting into it, but his character has very little personality out side of a womanizing problem, and being very confident in his piloting abilities (which amounts to him saying something close to, if not word for word: "I'm the best pilot in the galaxy" about every 10 minutes). The other PC is a rodian technician, who once again, has absolutely zero backstory. He is played by a guy who is kind of boring (not boring as in no fun, but uninteresting) in real life, and it really shows in his character. He remains quiet like the smuggler, but for him it is pretty much constant. No interesting character flaws, no bragging, just quiet. On top of that, I seem to be the only one with any desire to explore the world our GM is slowly creating, which further causes most things to revolve around my character, and the GM leaves little for us to find out on our own.

How can I, as a PC, help my GM build and advance our adventure, and guide the other PC's into getting into their character. I can give my character overview if needed.

It works like this: A ship normally gets one action after moving. This can be either one of the ones printed on it's action bar, or from an upgrade cards that has the "Action" Header.

Certain cards or abilities allow a ship to preform a free action, usually under specific circumstances. You cannot, however, preform the same action twice in one turn. If you preform a barrel roll, then you can't use a free action to preform a second barrel roll.

Sometimes upgrades or abilities let you do things without actually preforming an action- Soontir Fel, for example, gives you a focus token without an action if you get a stress.

I had a question for people that own or are familiar with any of the three game lines from FFG.

I was looking at a list of the various supplements and sourcebooks for the three games and saw that they each feature playable races as well as vehicles and equipment. My question is whether any of the races or other info show up in more then one book (like the same PC race appears in an Edge of the Empire book as well as a Force and Destiny book) or if the content is unique to each individual book.

So if I was playing Force and Destiny but wanted to have the stats for every playable race, all the various ships and equipment would I have to buy all the books, even the ones from the other game lines?

Most of the ones you'll want are in the cores, some appear in more than one, but some are only in one, like Gand (EotE) and Mirialan (FaD)
Most of the smaller books add a couple of species, like the Gank (Lords of Nal Hutta) and the Toydarians (Enter the Unknown)
As >>41664848 said, just download the character generator from the official forums, otherwise, to get every species, you do indeed need to buy every book, and that's silly.

okay, I have a question about droids: How much of a Droid's body does it need to remain in a vaguely functional state?

What mean is, in the prequel trilogies (I know, horrible) and in TOR (I know, worse) we've seen droids reduced to just their heads and still able to think, speak, and function. And apparently, according to Attack of the Clones, the bodies do possess some minimal level of programming itself. Sort of. That whole scene was weird.

Either way though, the funny part is, thinking about it, both examples I recall are protocol droids. Do combat droids tend to have their minds spread out a bit more or is it all centralized in a droid's "head" or the closest thing to it they have?

>KOTOR tech seems pretty similar to prequel tech.

This is almost entirely due to the videogames.

In the original KotoR comic and Golden Age of the Sith, the technology DID look plausibly MUCH older then the tech of the prequel films, with many of the ships having an archaic and patchwork-like shape, with many older structures and fortresses looking more like Aztec temples and stone castles.

When the KOTOR game came around, they wanted to use the era but realized if they used the older-looking technology that everyone would criticize it for looking "not like a Star Wars game", seeing as the only examples everyone else knew of were in the movies and games taking place then.

So basically they made it all look exactly like the prequel films to ensure the visual look of the films was consistent with the games, at the cost of making it look like 50 years after Exar Kun died the setting's technology completely stagnated.

A good example of the changes?
THIS is what a Basilisk War Droid looked like in the original comics, while in KOTOR2 they made it look like a basic fighter in the vague shape of StarViper-class heavy fighter like Xizor flew 5000 years later.

TOR made it worse, and suddenly basically the entire Republic Army wore shit identical to what the clones did thousands of years later for no real reason other then so people could play clone wars without playing the clone wars.

Is it weird that the reason I'm *most* excited about Wave 7 is because it finally has some Scum ships that I won't be embarrassed to put on the table? I'm an all-Scum player, and while my friends are running around with B-wings and TIE Interceptors I'm cringing because I'm either putting the astoundingly ugly and nonsensical Aggressor on the table, or yawning because I'm just using outdated Rebellion tech with the Y-wing/Headhunter/HWK. I love the look of the Scyk and the StarViper is a lot of fun to fly, but neither is competitively priced, point-wise.

With Wave 7, we get two amazing-looking Scum ships that both appear to be very competitive (at least right now), AND their point costs should allow them to slot into lists nicely and allow me to roll with the occasional Scyk and StarViper and not just be shooting me in the foot.

Ironic that the Rebel/Imps ships in Wave 7 are the ugliest things in either faction so far.

Too bad Wave 8 is right back to abominations. Mist Hunter looks better than I expected, but is still weird, but JumpMaster looks worse than I expected.

Who gives a fuck? Scum now have two motherfuckers who can hurl 6 fucking dice downwind with their primary attacks at RB1, that's STAW tier levels of attack dice.

I mean christ look at this:

4 ships, 2 of which have 4+ AD at RB3*, and another two who are amazing blockers. So who cares how they look?

And for the record, the Scyk, StarViper and the white paintjob on the Z-95's all look great and I have no idea what the fuck you are talking about.

*Okay, Zooky does give the target +2 defence dice when he does that sure, but still impressive.

I actually didn't think Phantom was so bad.
I know it's popular to dislike it, but it's pretty close to impossible to live up to THAT much hype.

The political stuff was actually pretty interesting to me and there was still lots of running and blasting to balance it out.

I also really liked the quiet confidence with which Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon carried themselves. Even when it danger they didn't freak out or get angry, while Whineakin in the later prequels pretty much acted overemotional all the time, making it seem like all Jedi were about thirty minutes from flipping out because it's largely JUST him the later two prequels focus on, giving us a pretty narrow view of the Jedi in general.
Plus Obi-Wan's many wry comments in Phantom kinda seemed to synch up better with Ian McDiarmid's dry humor in the OT he was always employing.

Maul (despite having basically no lines) was a pretty memorable villain thanks to the amazing physical acting work done by Ray Park, which made him seem both like a very controlled and precise killer and an someone just barely in control of himself at the same time.
That scene where he paces back and forth behind the shield like a caged tiger while Qui-Gon gently sits and meditates is an amazing pierce of non-verbal acting; it tells you everything you need to know about the three characters without any of them saying a word.

Well fair enough then.

For the record, I really don't like how the 666's ass looks. It just looks all flat and nasty, like some kid sat on the prototype just before it went in for mass production and nobody noticed until the first production run.

Stats and upgrades it comes with are amazing though. The things I can do with Razzi are just lovecraftian.
Well, maybe not Lovecraftian, maybe just Derlethian, but still, you put Weapon Engineer, Bossk and Gunner on her and see what happens.

I see the complaint with the Jumpmaster, but that thing is kind of designed to look stupid, it's like a bootleg version of the YT-1300 made in country that doesn't exist anymore.

Time for another story of GM shenanigans! To recap:

>set during Old Republic era
>started off using d20 Saga Edition, but GM decided to use RCR d20, as Saga Edition "was too much of a miniatures game"
>good houserules: XP System was changed from d20 nonsense to Savage Worlds' "x/5" superiority
>bad houserules: everything else he did
>"Oh, by the way, your PC is now permanently deaf from that thing that happened several sessions ago"
>"Also, your characters are now captured by that Sith Lord you met at the first session"
>"I know we agreed that we were going to take a break next session and play board games, but I'm going to carry on running the campaign instead, because 3 party members have been away form the game for a while. Granted, 2 players are missing this week, and one of them is a 10 year-old who loves roleplaying more than anything, but I'm running the campaign this week anyway."

And now, the continuation of the shenanigans!

>my Kel Dor Scout and a Human merc PC broke out of the creepy torture place we were meant to be in
>we broke a Jedi Master NPC free, who was better in combat than both of us combined, one-shotting Sith Troopers with ease (not too shenanigany, given that Jedi, especially Jedi Masters are meant to be combat beasts in comparison to two level 4 non-Jedi)
>we hijack a freighter, with the intention of holding off until the other PCs (who are breaking out as well, but we don't KNOW that) make it here
>trouble is, the ship we're trying to escape from is about to make it into hyperdrive
>we gotta go NOW
>and we do
>mfw it turns out everything me and the merc did that session was all a Sith hallucination designed to show us how making attachments makes you weak... or something

I mean, we got XP for it, same as everyone else, but... what the kriff, man?

Anakin was dead. There was only Vader, Vader had no regrets. Everything had betrayed him. He was often committing wrongs, but who cared? He was full of hatred, hatred for everything but especially hatred of himself hatred of who he had been, and especially hatred of who he was now. But he was trapped, there was no way out.

Then he discovered Luke, and Anakin, in a way, lived again. He hated this reminder of the person he'd once been, but started to remember that person, that things hadn't always been that way. Maybe they didn't have to keep being that way.

Vader was, as he said, beyond redemption, but Luke was right, there was still a spark of a good person in him. And in the end, that spark won and Anakin committed one last act of good.

It really isn't enough to buy him redemption, at least in his own mind. But for one last time, one last moment, he could be that good person he had once been, and it was enough to buy Anakin Skywalker some peace, even as Darth Vader died.

I don't think you know what the Sith are.

The Sith isn't a term for a Jedi who turned to the dark side. The Sith are an entirely different organization whose ancient roots may have started with the Jedi but diverged basically completely thereafter.

It's also something that should be noted that the few times that the Jedi enact these hyperconservative rules (Kanan mentions the "no relationships" thing is very recent), it's almost always right before things start going to hell in a handbasket and they get wiped out down to just a handful.

Anakin's mistake was confusing obsession with love, and Padme's mistake was not leaving him after the events on Tatooine.

>> No.41678780

I don't think the Jedi Order has any real idea what makes people go Sith. Yeah, dark side bad, anger bad, fear bad rawr, fire bad, but either Obi-Wan is a TERRIBLE teacher or no one in the Jedi Order understands the need for nor how to impart emotional maturity.
When Anakin gets into trouble and finds that he can't hold all these feels, he doesn't turn to his teacher or any of his peers. He talks to Padme or to Palpatine. Some of that is obvious teenage wangst (especially in AotC, oh god especially there), but when he starts having dreams of Padme dying in pain, he talks about it to Palpatine and even a bit to Padme, but only refers to it obliquely and subtly when speaking to other Jedi even when he has no real reason to NOT say something about it. And, since he acts childish in everything he does, it's very obvious what he's trying to hide so clearly someone at the Temple isn't doing their damn job.
No, no stop. Listen, a series that fills in plot holes that comes out YEARS after the movie doesn't get to count, nor does one that comes at the same time. If you need reference material to explain why a movie's plot ISN'T bullshit, it's time to make a new draft of that script.
Given that his first starfighter kill is accompanied by the word 'oops', I'm not so sure.

Probably because Anakin is kind of a weenie with a lot of pride who knows (especially in RotS) that he's not being very Jedi-like and has actually broken some real rules. He wants to be a cool Jedi Master and do Jedi things, ever since, y'know, he was a fuckin' hero at age 9. It's a good example of how stagnant the Jedi Order is that they don't really know how to handle these kinds of problems. Of course, at AotC onward, I'm pretty sure they have more on their plates than running Jedi IA on a galactic hero.

Strictly speaking, the Council was right the first time. Anakin was too old and too much already being shaped to be easily molded into the Jedi's very controlled way of thinking. Qui-Gon was a maverick who shouldn't have gone done that. But he also was the first Jedi to die fighting a confirmed Sith in Force knows how long, so they did it to honor his memory.

Probably. At least to the point Anakin wouldn't have latched onto Palpatine as a stand-in father figure.

>> No.41679243

I mean, you'd think values and lessons would be imparted directly from master to student and be passed on, but looking at TPM you can tell Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan have clearly different personality types. Obi is clearly way more of a tightass than Qui-Gon is (which makes sense, he's a young adult who's just come out of the equivalent of 13+ years of Paladin school, and he's been stuck with the loose cannon).

Qui-Gon was more laid back, and he was more of a fluffy, in-the-now kind of guy, with more experience and knowledge than Obi Wan. Obi and Anakin were like brothers, but maybe Qui-Gon would have been more like his father.

Rather, than, y'know, Sheev and his "We'll be watching your career with great interest" right out the gate. Let it not be said palps isn't a psychological judo master with a PhD in "The Long Game".

It would have been interesting to see Qui-Gon Jinn and Tonic versus Palpatine in the long game, because you can bet that a) Anakin's defining tragedy from AotC wouldn't have happened because after Maul flops down dead and the army is shut down, Qui-Gon would ask the queen for a bunch of gold or whatever and gone back to buy Shmi and b) that little god-complex of his isn't going to get no fucking traction with Old Man Jinn.

>> No.41679552

Yeah, I certainly feel Qui Gon would have been able to talk to Anakin about more shit than Obi Wan, who just wasn't prepared for it.

Of course, wasn't Qui-Gon a Form IV guy? And not a AAA duelist. Palps plan would have gone through steps 1 and 2 still, and its entirely possible Anakin would have picked up another shitty tragedy in his life, Qui-Gon gets got along with a whole shitload of other Jedi at Genosis. That'd still leave some time to build up to EP III for Anakin to take a dip down the left-hand path. But without that, Palpatine would need an entirely different endgame.

Dragged out an old favourite from the D6 era and made her applicable to the FFG system.
The Super Turtle! aka Ghtroc Cargo Empress

Did slightly modify it with some guns and detailed it with some internal hanger bays just to make it a little different to whats currently in the game.
Course, you can strip off the guns as a 'stock' bulk freighter and put in about 3-4 extra hardpoints.

Interior pic to follow-

So found some deck plans, which are mostly ok for what they where. But went back in and added a few extra bits and details to make it 'workable' as a big blubbery ship.
Also some much needed areas such as a laundry and a decent sized rec room, medical bay and various other cargo handling functions.

Basically, it can carry some Starfighters- at a cost of -1000enc per sil 3 ship you're carrying and I think it adds something of value to the ship as sort of a mini-carrier/escort and Q-ship

I have a burning hatred of the streched Ghotrocs.

Not in a "that is stupid and shouldn't be in the game" sort of way, but more of an in-character "That is completely stupid and should never have been built. Waste of a good turtle." sort of way

Honestly it *probably* shouldn't have the missile launchers. That felt like something the Alliance probably added to their collection of them. Even without the launchers I'd take one of these over a YT-1300 any day.

This is what I used as a reference to make that simplistic deckplan. Do yourself a favor and mute the first one (the first one also has terrible interior decorating)

I figure that big room in the front they both use as a sort of lounge is *supposed* to be a cargo bay. Cause there certainly doesn't seem to be anywhere else to put cargo. I kinda assume the cargo model doesn't have that ramp upwards either, leaving a lower floor/higher ceiling for more cargo space.

Then again, maybe Gallofree was dumb and the cargo storage is a crawlspace underneath the lounge, possibly inaccessible from the inside of the ship.

And this is why it's better to pretend TOR is in some alternate universe/an EU of its own.

Still, I started to think from TOR (and funny enough, Star Tours) that technological progress in Star Wars had just stopped being something that changed aesthetics, but altered performance.

For example, my suped up x-70b phantom... Still can't just blaster out the bridges of capital ships and frigates and needs photon torpedos to do the job. Flash forward nearly four thousand years and a fucking glorified Space Grey Hound bus can shoot out of the bridge of a fucking Star Destroyer.

She's a great ship, but short production run, a defunct manufacturer, and ossibly little aftermarket support means finding proper spare parts must be a BITCH.

Then again, if they get popular aftermarket support will quickly spring up, but it'll cost you an arm and a leg for proper reproduction parts.

Anyways, I'll stop rambling about the plucky little ship now.

The listed specs for these buggers are OP, like A-wings on steroids. Normally ships this size couldn't have heavy lasers, but hardpoint-mounted similarly to the B-wing it makes sense. Oversized weapon mounts according to DC drop handling and strain by 4, so handling goes to +2 instead of the +3 expected. It's basically a squishier but faster T-65B X-wing with a slower hyperdrive and triple the cost.

The 9.2-meter-long Aurek Tactical Strikefighter combines speed and maneuverability with the ability to deal surprising amounts of damage. Ease of refueling and rearmament make the Aureks ideal for capital-ship squadrons. And their simple fuselage minimizes production time to such an extent that the Republic frequently foregoes all but the most minor repair work, choosing instead to ship out new fighters. This results in many scrapped Aureks finding their way into civilian use.

The little moral or whatever at the start of the episodes eventually become only tangentially related to the episode before becoming basically unrelated.

There are a few episode here and there where you really do need the narration, because the narrator will reference things that were literally never shown before. The Moralo Eval arc springs to mind; the setup premises are introduced by the narrator in the first episode of the arc.

As long as you catch the narration of the first episode of an arc, though, you're good as gold for the rest of the arc's episodes.

>> No.41682078

Personally, I feel that the narration makes it feel almost like a WWII newsreel or something, but I can see why it might annoy some.

In media res is good, and it can produce a nice effect sometimes with how Netflix cuts right past most of the narration of an episode if you just let it autoplay the next one, but some episodes like the Moralo Eval one can get confusing if you miss the narration. The first episode of the Moralo arc is like "wait, what, who's going on, what am I watching" until Obi-Wan finally sneaks into the prison and gets to talk with Moralo for a bit, then everything starts to click into place, but you could have understood everything from the beginning if you'd watched the narration.

Moving on to Mandalorian ships now that I have Hammerheads and Aureks. These little guys are pretty decent as is, but really shine if you start customizing them. General packages will include an additional weapons system (concussion missiles) or advanced targeting computer and either shields or hull/strain upgrade. Specialist squadrons will have Nightshadow Coating and a heavy missile payload for fast hit-and-runs.

Davaab-type starfighter

It's name derived from the Mando'a word for "carrying out" and "execution", the fighter was used by the Mandalorians for capital ship protection. The 8.8 meter long Davaab starfighter was wide, boasting asymmetrical wings: a longer, bent fin-shape wing and a shorter wing with a cannon. A bubble canopy allowed the pilot to see his immediate surroundings. Mandalorians treat their starfighters as objects of personal pride, second only to their suits of armor, happily spending their personal time and resources on modifications. The Davaab-style starfighter's open systems architecture adapts to this degree of kit-bashing better than other starfighters do.

Teroch Gunship

The Teroch-type gunship, named for a Mando'a word "pitiless", is a fast-attack gunship that specializes in swift interdictions. The nimble craft spend little time squaring off with opposing ships, instead using their speed to make most of their limited firepower. A wave of Teroch-type gunships breaching a line is a horrible sight for a Republic captain, who suddenly has opponents fore and aft.

And here is probably the most controversial homebrew yet, the Basilisk war droid. They're semi-sentient beings with intelligence a bit above a domesticated animal and the mandos bond with them, so I figured I'd use the Beast Riding Rules to model this guy. Before you gag at the stats, remember that those stats are Armor 2, Hull 3, Strain 15 in space.

Vehicle statistics: Silhouette 3, Speed 3 (Speed 1 when grounded), Handling -2

Soak 20, Wound threshold 30, Strain threshold 15

Mount statistics: Brawn 6, Agility 3, Intellect 1, Cunning 3, Willpower 2, Presence 1

Skills: Brawl 2, Perception 2, Survival 3 (Uses for Piloting checks), Vigilance 2, Coercion 2

Abilities: Silhouette 2, Droid, Trained Mount 1 (add Boost to an authorized rider's Survival checks while mounted on a basilisk), Flyer (basilisks can fly, see page 214 of the Core Rulebook), Sweep attack [The basilisk can spend Triumph on a successful Brawl check to hit the target as well as anyone engaged with the target).

Equipment: Massive rending claws (Brawl; Damage 15; Critical 3; Range [Short]; Knockdown, Sunder)

Weaponry: (Pilot only, Gunnery checks, planetary scale)

Dual Light Laser Cannons (Fire Arc Forward; Damage 5; Critical 3; Range [Close]; Linked 1)

Dual Concussion Missile Launchers (Fire Arc Forward; Damage 6; Critical 3; Range[Short]; Blast 4, Breach 4, Guided 3, Slow-Firing 1, Linked 1; 2 missiles each)

Shockwave Generator: (Fire Arc Forward, Damage 9; Critical 3; Range [Close]; Breach 2; Slow-Firing 5)

Additional Rules:
The user can make a Hard Survival check to instruct the basilisk droid to perform autonomous actions. Each success on the roll counts for one turn of the basilisk trying to perform the given instructions to the best of its ability. If it is not a part of the initiative order, it joins normally as per dismounting rules. The basilisk droid cannot use any of its ranged weaponry without a rider. For more information see the Beast Riding Rules, Stay on Target pg 80.

all this great ship talk, and no one has brought up the HWK-1000 yet?

My edge group loves this thing.

>> No.41686321

I feel like it's a little bit too good, really. Speed 5 and +1 handling on a ship that isn't desperately fragile is a bit too good for a basic ship.

And with rarity 10, it shouldn't be an option for a starter ship. If they're going to get one, it better be as a reward for an adventure.

yeah, they got it because one of the PC's dad was a test pilot who got killed by hutts and left this behind for the PC to find. beyond that, it can't really outrun ties and has no weapons, so it was still risky to try and run blockades and whatever with it.

Though now we've been playing for a few months, and the pilot PC has souped it up some.

I fucking love it too. So pissed my players have blew me off in favour of someone else's Old Republic game, I figure they'd love one of these.

I don't suppose it'd fit a Basilisk in the cargo hold though, would it? They got a deactivated one of those somehow and were trying to source parts for it when we stopped.

You guys do know the official stance on jedi being able to marry and fall in love has changed to being okay, right? And not just the EU stuff, actual 'it matters because Disney/Lucas acknowledges it' canon.

Also, how do I make jedi NPCs in EotE?

>> No.41688624

>You guys do know the official stance on jedi being able to marry and fall in love has changed to being okay, right? And not just the EU stuff, actual 'it matters because Disney/Lucas acknowledges it' canon.
>implying it wasn't always okey depending on who you asked and what mood Lucas was in when was was taking the shit out of you on that day
With that said, you just stat them out. Probably get force and destiny for the full on force rules. You could even use the inquisitor rules to force generate them on the quick. For the life of me i don't understand questions like these.

>> No.41688943

>Also, how do I make jedi NPCs in EotE?

Same way you make any other NPC. You compare against an existing NPC, see one that fits closely to what you're looking for, alter it from there, adding/removing whatever you think is necessary. Also Inquisitor rules if the NPC is meant to be a BEAST

>> No.41688980

It actually hasn't.

The only thing that has changed was that Kanan says the "no relationships" thing was a relatively recent rules change.

If you're referring to that letter to the little autistic kid, that's not exactly a viable source for anything in-universe. That's just them appeasing him.

>> No.41689229

The letter to the little autistic kid has some merit IF YOU READ IT CAREFULLY.

The marriage ban is not the Jedi condeming love in and of itself.

>Attachment is forbidden.
>Possession is forbidden.
>Compassion, which I would define as unconditional love, is essential to a Jedi's life. So you might say we are encouraged to love.

Attachment and possession are what poison it. They create the mad fear of loss that leads to anger, hate, and the dark side. To love truly selflessly, WITHOUT attachment, WITHOUT possession, ready to let go when the time comes one day, would avoid all the risks and be perfectly fine, but that's REALLY FUCKING HARD. Hence the ban.

If you can do it, great, but I imagine that the Jedi saw this fail so many times that eventually they were like "we are so sick of dealing with this shit" and banned it altogether. And is it so surprising? Even in the real world, it's REALLY HARD to make this shit actually work. For the average person on the street, breakups and divorces are emotionally devastating, but ultimately not the end of the world.

But a Jedi's not an average person on the street, they're a member of a monastic order with sworn duty to the Republic. A Jedi needs to pretty much always be ready to do their duty. It's a religion that has no laymen and is not meant for the masses.

Help. My GM won't let me use Destiny points, or even roll to add them to the pool. How do I persuade him otherwise?

>> No.41691206

What is his reasoning?

>> No.41691246

He says my character's not a Force sensitive, so I can't use Destiny, which is a Force power.

>> No.41691269

Tell him to point out where it says that in the text, exactly.

If he cannot find it, he's full of shit.

>> No.41691280

He might be remembering how Destiny points could be used to do insane things in Saga Edition.

They don't work like that in EotE. A player can only spend one destiny point per action, and can only use it to either upgrade his own dice pool once (either turning an ability die into a proficiency die, or, if the pool is all proficiency dice, adding an ability die), upgrade an NPC's difficulty pool once, activating certain special abilities, or as a way to make a sensible and creative addition to the game by introducing some new "fact", like retconning the party to have packed rebreathers when discovering that a destination has a toxic gas leak.

Similarly, the GM can use dark side destiny points to do all these same things, but in reverse: upgrading NPC dice pools, upgrading PC difficulty, activating NPC special abilities, etc.

Point out to him that he is either breaking or completely eliminating a number of class abilities and getting rid of an interesting storytelling mechanic.

>> No.41691326

Destiny does not reflect the conscious use of the Force by characters in-game. It is meant to portray the Force itself occasionally fiddling with fate as a means of enacting its own will. The fact that it can be used by both players and the GM is meant to reflect how the Force can and does tamper with the world both to the benefit and detriment of the PCs.

>> No.41691370

Oh. That makes sense. I'll let the GM know first chance I get.

>> No.41691422

Tell him to compare talents between regular classes (which can require spending a destiny point) with the talents available to a Force Sensitive Exile - as an example. Abilities which require Force Sensitivity to take are clearly marked.

>> No.41691453

Also, Force powers work very differently in EotE. Force-sensitive characters have a Force rating of at least 1.

When attempting to use a Force power, the player rolls a number of Force dice equal to his Force rating. This is how many Force points he generates. He may then spend these Force points to activate his Force power. He may only spend light side points normally, but may choose to call upon the dark side to use dark side points as well, taking strain equal to the number of dark side points he has rolled and suffering any other narrative effects the GM deems appropriate.

In Force and Destiny, this also results in conflict points, which can skew a character's morality towards the dark side.

>> No.41691504

IIRC it also flips a destiny point, to show how the Dark Side gets more influence.

>> No.41691578

That is true as well.

That reminds me: spent Destiny points don't go away. They get flipped from light to dark, or vice versa. So a dark side point becomes light when spent, and a light side point becomes dark when spent, but the pool's size remains constant throughout the session.

Hey, remember a few /swg/ ago, when I said I was going to slap some Star Wars shit onto a USB I got cheap off eBay for some friends of mine? Well, the seller just refunded my purchase, what with the damn thing not arriving a fortnight after it was meant to, so I've ordered a new one from a UK seller. Anywho, here's what I'm going to put on it:

>prequel and OT audiobooks
>Han Solo Trilogy
>the NPR radio dramas
>Tales of/from anthologies
>Shadows of The Empire
>Rogue Squadron
>Thrawn Trilogy

>Ewoks (one of them LOVED the Ewoks when we marathoned the OT a few months ago)

>the Goodwin/Williamson comic strip
>Marvel's first Star Wars ongoing (but I'll stop before Mary Jo Duffy introduced space goths)
>Rogue Squadron
>Star Wars Adventures
>Tales of The Jedi
>Knights of The Old Republic
>Star Wars Tales
>that fun Ewoks graphic novel Dark Horse put out just before they lost the license

Is there anything else I should add?
