Azuma-chan was a small business man who sold stuff on ebay. No longer will he/she ever deal with factories, slacking employees, "the customer is always right" and other mundane problems. She now has a whole new set of problems on her plate. To begin with, no one seems to want to sell booze to a little girl.

She wears a simple long dress in battle, and uses a large axe in conjunction with her gravity magic.

Azuma-chan can be hired for simple adult pleasures such as booze and cigarettes.

You can do as you want. The Allies perk gives two, so I rolled them both on a shared supply of four silver coins (no gold) and banned myself from investing in their stats.
Also, if your Allies roll Allies, stop that shit right there because recursion is terrible. Same for Twin Soul, unless you want to just decide that the allies are twins like I did.

Camira

Str: 4
Vit: 7
Agi: 16 (gold, silver)

A positively tiny little girl, who hit puberty several years too early. Damn estrogen mimicing hormones. Short black hair, dark blue eyes.

Focused Assault

+2 Mag (silver from A Way Out)
+2 Agi

Camira is a graceful, quick girl. Intensely curious and rather mischievous, she is nearly always getting herself into trouble. With her friendly nature and high spirits, easy, shallow friendships come quickly to her, while getting to know her in any deeper way is something that takes great patience. Camira has a very short attention span, if she can't figure something out in 30 seconds, she probably never will. She does not remember her life before becoming a Magical Girl, and has not yet tried to explain to herself why she seems far more knowledgeable and emotionally complex than the average 8 year old.

In combat, Camira is hard to keep tabs on. She fights with an oversized rifle, using her magic to flit from place to place while aiming precision fire at her opponents. Battles are a big game of tag to her, and she is very hard to catch.

Camira's transformation is rather destructive. With a shout of "Winds ALOFT! CARRY me away!" she rises slowly off the ground in an accelerating vortex of air. The wind builds and spreads out, after several seconds approaching tropical storm speeds at a distance of 10-20 ft from her. It eventually builds into a visible tornado that obscures her in whirling condensation, detritus and the tatters of her own clothing. After several moments it suddenly dissipates and she drops lightly to the ground wearing a classic schoolgirl's sailor uniform with a gigantic rifle slung over her shoulder. She tries to remember to go outside before she transforms, but sometimes she forgets. Sorry. She also spends nearly a third of her monthly allowance on clothes, and is seldom seen wearing the same thing twice.

While the younger of the two, Akira generally makes the plans and gives the orders in combat. Since she doesn't have the stealth capacity of her twin Amayo, she often finds a vantage point to perch on with her laptop to watch over her twin. She still gets embarrassed in combat due to her outfit so she stays near the back and shoot at things. Despite what her attack makes her sound like, she's actually quite kind.

>"HYPER HEAT KILL DEATH RAY!"

Amayo quite enjoys the freedom from authority figures that comes with her powers, but she seems to have gotten a lot more impatient with her transformation. Maybe all of those years working first line tech support were finally catching up with her. While it was a little depressing to know she wouldn't get any bigger, it was nice that she was a little developed already. Tends to be quiet in battle so she can listen to her younger twins orders. Very excitable, the genki girl of the pair.

Probably choose brown eyes, brown hair and an average-looking face.

First things first, I get the fuck away from where I am, go to a sufficiently distant densely-populated city, and make a home for myself on a rooftop (pigeon cages optional), stealing food and other necessities to survive. Unless the illusion makes me look older, getting a job's going to be a bitch.

My stats are pretty high, and Shadow Clones is going to multiply my offensive power a lot. I try to talk things through with the magical girl teams sent to hunt me, maybe convince them that I'm just minding my own business and not a threat to anyone. If that fails, I can always go full Touhou boss on them.

The blowgun can also work, especially if you manage to develop a plant with the right size and shape of seeds to spit that way.
Or hell, use a sling! Use a custom-grown living trebuchet! Go hog wild; Flower can do anything except a firearm with incredible ease and still be in flavor.

>> No.39286851

Oh, flavor-wise I've got it down. The flowers he forms in front of him work like turrets. They blossom in the air in front of him when he summons an arc with the wave of his hand, and they fire beams of magic out of them. I'm imagining Mami's guns, but with flowers I conjure up instead.

If there don't seem to be any synergy problems, then I guess I'll go ahead and build. Given that I'm aiming for a wandering, street urchin kind of character, who spreads light and life to dark places, I'm going to roll towards being a shadow clone glass cannon, relying in-character on people never getting to hit or knowing which is the real me.

I guess I'll do the writeup now. For that kind of ranged attack... Mag increases the rounds I get per attack, and the force of my attacks, while agil determines how well I hit?

I guess the question is, given that I'm building in that direction, what's the best to spend my coins on?

Body: Underdeveloped
Clothing: Uniform
Transformation Phrase: Tomas whistles a tune - La Marseillaise - as his clothes snap onto him, the fabric seeming to grow out of his spine in vines which envelope his body, before smoothing into the dark satins of his uniform.

>A small boy, Tomas seems to slide into the periphery wherever he goes - even when transformed, his clothing is a comfortable, form-fitting suit of black satin, with a deep red vest and a simple white shirt, closed at the neck with a ribbon. His pockets are filled with seeds, but until he scatters them, he could be simply an exceptionally well-dressed ten year old.

Weapon: Ranged
Specialization: Flowers
Power: Shadow Clones
Perks: Closure, Masculinity, Big Backpack, +2 Vit + Mag, Incognito (Gold)

> Tomas fights dirty - he's a boy, after all. As he wanders from city to city, he tends to settle in parks and gardens, convincing the flora to shelter him comfortably for the night; when found in these places, he and his shadow clones immediately split up through the trees, bending the natural world around them to bring enemies to the ground. His pockets are full of seeds, which when scattered in an arc before him form a floating bouquet of magic-spitting blossoms, and his sleeves, if rolled, would reveal twisting green tendrils around his arms, which writhe out in combat to form a bow in his hands. Another pockets' seeds grow in his fingertips when drawn to form a living arrow, iron-hard and razor-sharp. Every attack he makes sends snow-like flurries of white petals spiraling.

>>39288212

I actually wasn't - haven't played the game - but I see where you'd think that now.

>>39288198

Content wise, you've got a good premise - you're starting with action, you examine the character's motivations through actions she's performing, while she's performing them, and you have a grasp of what she's feeling, namely lost, confused, and desperate.

Your writing could use a bit of cleaning up, mostly for cohesion. You use the term "almost" a few times in a row - "almost polished or crystaline," "almost like clockwork" - and it'd work better with more direct descriptions. Alternatively, you can talk about how the shimmer of the wings "implied something more crystal than feather" if what you're trying to describe is a vague sensation that can't be nailed down easily. Vary your word choice.

There's also a bit of purple prose in the beginning - a sin I commit as well. It could flow together a bit more. For example, that first few lines.

>"The storefront window exploded into a shower of broken glass as a burning javelin flew through it and started to burn into the wall inside. An alarm instantly started to ring, and lights turned on up and down the deserted night street.

The girl who'd thrown it didn't seem to care."

What about instead,

>"The storefront window exploded in a shower of glass as the burning javelin crashed through it, imbedding in the store wall. The crashing glass mixed with the first wails of the store's alarm, breaking the calm of the quiet street, and sending the first lights flickering on in the surrounding windows.

Moira didn't care."

I've done some slimming. Naming her early like that also lets you refer to her as something other than "she" and "the winged girl," which is something I kept noticing.

>>39288272
Thanks.

Hadn't really thought them out too much but Moira's hardly an objective witness given that as a week old fallen angel with poor impulse control and completely out of her depth, she's going to be causing trouble wherever she goes and doesn't even understand that she's doing it at this point.

Symposia is under the impression that "angel" means good, and travels around "helping" people she believes are in need, quite unaware that chaos follows in her footsteps. Always confused when she runs into magical girls seeking to trim her wings, she's had more than a few close calls only narrowly avoided with her enhanced regenerative properties.

One thing that hasn't changed since her 'rebirth', is her habit of picking up unwanted trinkets; or rather, pickpocketing and shoplifting. If it weren't for her ability to hide those things she takes in hammerspace, she would have been caught countless times.

On the whole, I like it.

The prose is a little clunky, and a little repetitive in places. Things like this: "She'd never liked the sound of her own voice before, but that wasn't the problem. The problem was that it wasn't her voice at all."

The reader knows you're describing the problem, it doesn't need to be mentioned twice like that. I'd rewrite it into something like: "She'd never liked the sound of her own voice before, but that wasn't the problem. This just was not her voice at all."

Other examples:
"A glowing, flickering aura flickered to life"
"her body could keep going for a lot longer than she'd been running so far. She just hoped she could keep it up for longer"

In general, just try not to repeat things like that unless you're intentionally trying to highlight something.

I particularly like your scene, and your fast pacing. You've got a good sense for unrolling exposition without getting bogged down, that's a big challenge for me.

Welp, finally hashed out 1.3. Shorter than I'd like, but I figured that was a good place to break it off, as it was either put it out or write up a confrontation that would've extended the part by double or more. I figure 2 more parts and Arc 1 is over.

As for the repetitive description, that was the best compromise I could run with that didn't involve glossing over the inspection entirely -or edging into lewd territory. I want to make it clear that I've spent some time observing myself, I'm pretty and hot, and consider myself ridiculously attractive, but don't want to get lurid, because that's not an aspect I want to focus on, and I think would be out of place this early after the change.

Helene studious, perceptive girl with short mahogany-red hair and a look of perpetual austerity. She is quick to catch on to new concepts, and adept at reading the battlefield to judge how she can best utilize
While not the largest or leanest girl in her class—and by no means the most well-endowed—She nevertheless Holds a certain sturdiness and poise about her. When fighting with her hammer, whom She affectionately calls Donnerschlag, she shows a serene, almost dancer-like grace that belies deceptively-powerful strikes that *literally* hit home with the force akin to a bolt of lightning.

She very strays far from her attire: that of a somewhat-punky schoolgirl with leathern bomber-jacket. Nor does She stray far from the council of her two friends: the fiercely-built junior weightlift-ess/firewielder Eileen, and the dour bookworm-cum-chronomancer Audrey. The three of them are practically inseparable, and battle monstrous threats with startling synchronicity: Audrey freezing their enemies in time whilst simultaneously speeding up her comrades, while Helene and Eileen both close distance to attack with ferocious twin-assaults. Helene’s own special attack is always accompanied by the wild shriek ‘REIGHTEN MEIN STURM! KYAAAAAAA~!!’ as She charges herself up and calls forth the raw power of electricity itself.

Also, I should have a pastebin thing starting tomorrow. Another teaser:

>The hard part wasn't the inane bureaucracy-laden forms, surprisingly enough. For all of the red tape involved in turning the former warehouse into a safe haven, volume was more the issue than complexity. Whenever Clair did get stuck, she'd take a nap - dreaming of a life she'd been forced to leave behind - and fill in the proper credentials when she awoke.
>No, the much bigger issue was being talked down to by the city council, the zoning board, and all of the other suits who couldn't quite figure out what a teenager was doing with access to these kinds of forms and this much operating capital. Maybe a monster could attack in the middle of a meeting - that'd certainly shine a light on her situation. It also might kill a few of the more obstinate board members, if it came to that. Then again, perhaps it were better if they just stayed in the dark. Not everyone is fit to know these things...

Nyla sees her role as a guardian, not a fighter, protecting not only herself but natural sites, historical relics and places of necessity from harm. To this end she places wards to protect the places in the city she wishes to keep from her own chaotic aura, knowingly sacrificing some locations in order to place longstanding protective wards, before moving on, hopefully before anyone notices.

Seeking other monsters and magical girl outcasts, Nyla helps mask the presence of their lairs, in exchange for food and a place to stay. With no long term plans for the future, she stumbles on aimlessly, looking for answers in an increasingly deteriorating world.

Secretly, she dyes her hair because she's upset that people overlook her, completely oblivious to the fact that without a serious offense, teamamtes or ways to detect other magical girls, it's the only thing still keeping her alive.

Power: Focused Assault
Perks: A Way Out, Training (Brewing), +2 Luck, Big Backpack, Interdimensional Home

> Verochka doesn't have a weapon - rather, she specializes in improvised weapons. In combat, she uses the environment around her - ripping up paving stones, lampposts, whatever she can find. In a particular mood, she might even rip a small car in half, using each half as a one-handed club.

>Outside of combat, she's brash, but not mean - rude and crude in a way that pariahs often are, though she does her best to disguise it to the girls in her classes when she's trying to lay low. Her friends, few though they are, are well taken care of, and take advantage of her hobby - brewing some of the sweetest, cleanest, highest-proof imbibements in the world. It doesn't take much to get her emotionally drunk, and her neighbors in the pocket dimension are kept awake at all hours by the sounds of slurred russian shanties.

Never liked those, just seem lame.
Regardless, your idea has a lot of merit. Deliver a fast magically boosted hit. Perhaps something like a long chain or wire whip which is difficult to dodge or block. Tonfas would be quick and help you block.

My suggestion is chain with multiple hooks on the ends. Get the hooks in, give em a heart attack.

Hiding the body had been easy, driving home less so. Just as packing had been far easier than leaving, knowing that there could never be another message to hi-her family ever again.

It was an old habit; break something into smaller parts, decide which is easy and which is hard. Worry when doing the easy one, and when you do the hard, do it all on automatic. Transforming into a magical girl, easy. Fighting monsters, demons and whatever "Pucheen" had in store, hard. Picking meals, easy with her new powers. Finding an easy source of money, hard - or at least it would be if not for her supernaturally enchanting voice.

For what's next? Find a talent agent, easy. Dance, sing, do anything in her power to make him think that not only she was old enough to not need a permission slip, but also good enough to get a job as an idol? Hard.

On the bright side, she consoled herself, at least if she screwed it up he wouldn't remember, and if she makes it big, she'll be able to sneak through crowds without being dragged down by rabid fans.

I can't believe how well this fell into place for an idol build, I'm so stoked

I really like both of these ideas. I was trying to stick with a more western thematic--the image of a prim germanic woman with a proper euro weapon really appealed to me, for some reason--but I can see the aesthetic appeal of a multi-hooked chain, a well as the practicality/visual appropriateness of the tonfa. I'll have to sleep on it, and possibly adopt a new weapon in the next (?) General. At least adding up the stats makes me feel better about it.

Aine is a cold, calculating loner kind of girl and couldn't possibly imagine a more contrasting twin. She wants nothing to do with Elea, so she uses her skills to hide from the twin's search party of seemingly endless friends. Over time, she's learned to use this to her advantage, by using those "friends" to cause distractions while she sneaks around to assassinate or use mental magic to interrogate her targets.

Elea just adores her spiritual sister so much and only wishes she would stop hiding. Using her steadily growing network of allies, she's formed a small organization solely dedicated to finding Aine. In person, she uses her innate charisma and her (NOT) hypnosis to help garner more allies to her cause.

Only with the passing of time will this overblown game of cat and mouse end.

Is it bad I had to find a 30's gangster glossary to be able to follow most of that?
If I need any of your "instruments" then it'll probably be more trouble than it's worth, to be honest. I appreciate the offer, but ideally I'd be looking for a different kind of brass choir.

I figure if you're running a clip joint for the regular people you'll need a few girls with good hands and better bodies to work in the open. If I see any who fit the bill I'll send them your way - my only ask is that when your people hit a wall and need some place to go so they don't let the daylight in, bring 'em around my place. I'll treat 'em proper...though hell, anyone in our line of work, I'll treat 'em proper. It's the least we can do, you know?

Also, I know I'm no greenthumb but I've become surprisingly adept at preserving vegetables. Lettuce, spinach, squash, I think you get the picture, yes?

On the basis that lots of folk may lack exposure to anime terminology.

Shiny- magical
Sparkle- to do magical work, alternatively to be industrious or stop being lazy.
Shine job- monster killing or fighting other worse things.

Not to the common person. And isn't it nice to be thought of as a treasure? It also causes term confusion with "shine job."

I'd say that a "shine job" is a highly difficult but necessary task (like eradicating a monstergirl from a city) and that the act of killing any supernatural threat is "sunshining" them. That's derived from the much older euphemism of "letting the sunshine through them" for shooting somebody, and sounds optimistic and innocent enough for the context of a crude and dark solution.

The cutesy mascot with the unknowable machinations could be called a Critter. That's assuming that the weird pink thing isn't the only Critter known to the canon community.

An easy job could be known as a polish, instead of something derivative like "milk run." It continues all of this bright imagery. A highly difficult and unnecessary task, as in something impossible/overly deadly that could be done better by doing anything else instead, could be something like a "red caper" like in bull fighting? Trapspring? Lure? Sparkle-bait?

Firecrackers sounds good to me, of we're keeping to the theme of using light-based passes for everything.

>> No.39303201

A total uninitiate to all the weirdness of monsters and magical girls is a mundie, from Mundane. Someone who knows the truth is a pandie, from Pandora. It also sounds cute because of how close it is to panda, right? A pandie who tries to do the job of magical girls is a Headcase. Someone who encourages or sets up romance between magical girls is a lily gardener. Someone who seeks those relationships out for themselves is a sappho or has "gone native"; since it's known not all magical girls started out as either girls nor women then it would be a weird use of normal terms like lesbian to apply. This brings up an interesting question. Are there little girls who become magical girls? Is their innocence ever protected by the "older" converts? And do they have a special, subtle term to clue the older set into it so they don't disturb a child too quickly?

>> No.39303219

I liked sparklebait, if we accept sparkle to be "to do magical work/to be industrious/to break a habit of laziness". A magical girl that hooks a normal woman somehow is an elel (from /ll/ or lesbian lolita). A magical girl that hooks a normal man somehow is a seevu (from Law and Order: SVU, where this happened frequently, including at least once with a grown woman who did not age in appearance passed late teens). Can't use a term like jailbait or fairy since gender and age have gone all fucked from the situation. A magical girl that dates any kind of child is known as a goblin, and that bad reputation sticks around for a long, long time. A celibate, dateless magical girl is known as pure. Emlyn is a stolid, tranquil young boy. Short for his age, and rather effeminate with long white hair tied back in a ponytail, he is often mistaken for a young girl. Like almost everything else, this bothers him not at all. As a matter of fact, only one thing does bother Emlyn--the Puchuus. He has devoted his immortality to discovering their secrets, and someday driving them from this reality altogether.

Before his transformation, he was a rising star. A 41 year old trial lawyer, Emlyn (formerly Aaron) had just won the biggest case of his life. After years of drudgery, the partners at the firm had finally taken real notice of him, and there were whispers of promotion. With his wife pregnant with their third and likely quitting her job this time, the money would really help. He was racing home from a late night with the news, when with a single THUMP, everything went to hell.

He tried to go home, tried to explain to his wife what had happened, but somehow those magical bastards had re-written time itself. His wife no longer remembered him, HER husband had died in a car accident. His kids simply looked at him and sniggered to each other. He no longer had a place here, or anywhere.

Emlyn's calm demeanor simply masks the hurricane of rage he feels at having his life and happiness stripped from him. It comes out during his transformation, when with a raw scream of "YOU COCKSUCKING MOTHERFUCKERS!" he dissolves into a gently swirling puddle on the floor, slowly reforming into his costumed form.

Emlyn's powers stem from his magical form being composed of animate water. Damage to his "body" is quickly mended, and while preferring to avoid fights, he is capable of duplicating himself many times over, multiplying his offensive abilities.

Yea, pretty much. Now that you mention it, I haven't actually considered the coins an in-universe thing since the first character I made, despite what the cyoa says. It feels odd that my characters should have so much choice if it's not me playing first-person. Pretty fair, ain't I?

Maybe he did actually want to let his family go? Mid-life crisis, for all of how happy he thought he was feeling, deep down he was terrified about this final loss of freedom, the third kid and the partnership in the firm.

His hatred of the puchuus is projected from his denial of his own self-loathing at the doubts he feels and the choices he made during the transformation process.
