You are Captain WILLIAM PIERCE, a combat rescue officer of the United States Air Force.

Being put on indefinite standby certainly had its up and downs. The downs were that you weren't actually doing your job and making a difference on the front, and you were slowly losing your edge the longer you sat around. However, the ups were that you could actually sleep in, a luxury you rarely ever got in your line of work.

Today was one such day. Instead of waking up at the crack of dawn, you wake when the sun is already fairly high in the sky. You groggily look around and see that Janice was absent from her bed. Not too unusual, as Janice was always very dutiful like that.

However, what WASN'T usual was that there was one more person present in the mess hall when you finally come down. It was that young, bespectacled witch that Laika had been hanging out with yesterday.

"Oh, good morning, Will!" Janice says cheerfully as she sets down a plate full of pancakes on the table."As you can see, we have some company over!"

"Yeah, I see." You nod and glance at the younger witch. "And you are...?"

The girl looks at you nervously, and then turns back to Janice, as if looking for reassurance. Janice just smiles and and pats the girl on the head.

"There's no reason to be afraid, he's our CO." Janice says in her best motherly tone. "He's a good man. The best, actually!"

The girl turns back to you, now with a bit more confidence.

"I-I'm Samantha W-Wells. Y-you can also call me Merlin."

"Ah, well I'm Captain William Pierce." You nod.

"I-I can leave if you-"

"No, no, you're welcome to stay as long as you want." You cut her off. "If you're friends with anybody in my unit, you're practically one of us."

"Um, t-thank you!" Merlin bows her head.

"Come on, you better get some food into you!" Janice smiles as she slides a breakfast in front of you.

"If you insist." You grin and take a seat. You look over to see Merlin and Laika talking to each other over quite a multitude of things, but the prime subject seems to be the captured Fandance.

You just eat your breakfast silently as both Merlin and Laika continue talking.

"So what's it like when you're actually.... you know... plugged in?" Merlin asks, her stutter practically all but gone.

"Um, well, how do I explain it?" Laika frowns. "It's like... it just feels like the entire plane is an extension of your body. Like, moving the flaps and rudder is like moving your arms and legs. Stuff like that."

"Doesn't it feel, well, odd?"

"Oh yeah, it's really confusing at first, but you eventually get used to it!" Laika grins. "There's really noting like it!"

"A-and can you feel what the plane feels? L-like what happens if somebody touches it?" Merlin asks, starting to stutter again.

"Hmmmm, well, yeah, you can feel stuff, like the direction of the wind, and the temperature and placement of the components." Laika then leans in closer. "But... if you touch the plane is just the riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight spot, it feels SUPER good~!"

Wait, what.

"W-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-" Merlin completely breaks down, prompting Laika to burst out laughing.

"I'm just kidding! I can only feel what the plane's sensors feel. It's not quite the same as actual human skin!"

"O-oh! Okay!" Merlin's face goes red. "I j-just misunderstood!"

"Heheh, what did you think I was talking about?" Laika chuckles.

"N-N-NOTHING!" Merlin says before taking a big bit out of her pancake.

"They're practically like sisters!" Janice smiles and whispers to you.

"It's almost kind of scary." You nod.

However, the atmosphere tenses immediately when Laika and Merlin move their forks to grab another pancake, and the both land on the same one.

The last one.

Laika and Merlin then both glare at each other.

"Haha, that's funny, Merlin, I almost thought you were going for that pancake!" Laika laughs.

"R-really? Because I'm pretty sure I got it first..." Merlin respond.

Oh boy.

"Janice? Mind stepping in?"

"Of course!" Janice swoops in like a bird of prey and slices the pancake in half faster than you even see.

"Now, girls." Janice says with that sweetly artificial smile of hers. "Perhaps we can learn to share, can we?"

Both girls wither under Janice's terrifying smile.

"Y-yeah. I can live with half pancake." Laika nods rapidly.

"R-right!" Merlin agrees.

"Wonderful!" Janice smile grows a little warmer.

Man, if only solving international wars were this simple.

"Anyways, what do we have on the agenda today?" You ask Janice as she sits down.

"Ah, well, General Granger just shipped in some new equipment that we should start taking a look at. He wouldn't say what it was, due to 'security reasons', but he guaranteed we'd like it."

"I see." You nod. "Anything else?"

"Well, Merlin wondered if Laika could help her analyze that captured Fandance's control systems, so somebody needs to keep an eye on them. Or..."

"Or what?"

"Well, we could always try to find Frank Bishop." Janice giggles.

"What? He's here?" You blink.

"Of course! Don't you know that Merlin is his RIO?"

"Nope." You shake your head. "I'm a PJ, not a fighter jock. But really? Her and Frank Bishop?"

Good point, According to Slider it's because Ice gives mix signals and to him seems that she's trying to take his wings at times but as of the recent threads both sides are starting to gain a understanding of one another a bit more.

It's just in Ice's position as a CO she has a lot of responsibility, it's different with Young and red-hair German Witch since shenanigans and other things. However, this is no longer the 1940s and at least to Ice she feels she has to act responsible despite wanting to have fun like everyone else.

Not to mention the fact she wants everyone to get out of this alive though Frank is making this harder for her since his flying is killing him and the Matrons more or less want to peel him alive to see how he ticks.

Lets be honest, if he runs with it and Frank ends up with one of the three, Frank will likely have a family with whoever he ends up with. What do you think his hypothetical kid with Brigitte would think? Knows he or she has a dad but doesn't actually know him? Is Brigitte just going tell the kid at some-point 'yeah your Dad is that guy, yeah he has a loving family, no he doesn't know about you or yeah he knows about you but he can't see as often because he has a family.' Yes, yes I fully know theres ways around this and all but before y'all really run with the whole kid thing, please actually think of the kid not how amusing it would be.

"Makes sense." You nod. "Laika, Merlin, you want to come with us to see some new toys?"

Tarin, of course, gives Merlin a cold stare which of course scares the living daylights out of Merlin, so much that she literally hides behind Janice and always makes sure to keep Janice between her and Tarin at all times.

Sometimes it was tough being the intimidating type.

However, Merlin did seem to warm up to Ghost quite a bit, though you guess it's because they had the mutual similarity of having a relationship with a Bishop brother.

As Merlin and Ghost start trading embarrassing stories about Frank and Rex respectively, you enter the hangar to see Sokolov supervising the unpacking of a number of cargo crates.

"Captain! Just in time!" Sokolov grabs you and pulls you over to where the crates are loaded. "So much gear, so little time to test it all!"

"What do have?" You ask, trying to keep pace with the excited scientist.

"Well, we have a shipment of new experimental strikers, the laser defense module, and experimental armaments for the XF-19!" Sokolov says happily.

"How about those strikers?" You say.

"Excellent!" Sokolov lead you over to one set of crates getting unpacked. You see the techs gingerly carrying three pairs of extremely new, sleek strikers out. "These are the new line of strikers based off of the F-22 Raptor! Like the plane, it's supposed to have superior performance to the F-15, combined with stealth capability greater than the F-117! It's truly a technological marvel!"

"B-but the Wyvern strikers a-already fill that r-role." Merlin points out.

"Maybe for the Navy." Sokolov huffs. "But for the Air Force, this will pave the way for the next generation of strikers!"

"So that means Tarin, Janice, and Ghost are going to have to swap over to them?"

"That's right." Sokolov nods.

And you hear Janice and Ghost groan. Tarin stays silent, you can see that even she is a bit troubled. You remember fondly the last time they had to acclimate to new strikers. The most accurate description you could think of was drunken balloons crashing into everything.

"Y-you know." Janice chuckles nervously. "M-maybe we can just stick with our F-15 strikers..."

"Sorry, Janice, but it looks like Raptors are the WAY OF THE FUTURE." You grin. "Besides, if there's ever a time to acclimate, it's now when we're behind the lines."

"I suppose." Janice grumbles and gives you a look suggesting you were sleeping alone tonight. "Come on, Tarin, Ghost, let's get this over with."

"Awwwwww, and I was having such a great morning, too!" Ghost sighs.

"Can't be helped." Tarin shrugs, though still clearly not enthusiastic.

"Oh boy, it's like Christmas all over again!" Red snickers. "Good luck out there!"

Meanwhile, Merlin, with permission, begins examining a fourth set of strikers, which was supposed to be the backup set.

"I-I have to admit. Lockheed did find a way to get close to the W-Wyvern's capabilities at a lower cost." Merlin says with approval.

"Well it should be, if it's going to be the Air Force's primary fighter." Sokolov nods.

"T-these strikers are rated for internal bays, right?" Merlin asks, looking at the design.

"It is, yes, but the actual capability hasn't been implemented yet. The Lockheed engineers haven't been quite able to figure it out."

"W-well I can put it in." Merlin says.

"You can?" Sokolov's jaw drops. "Can you tell me how you did it?"

"C-can you tell me everything you know about V-VDNI?" Merlin counteroffers.

"Oh, you fools! Tie them down before you let them wander!" Sokolov shouts.

Immediately, the techs quickly but carefully tie safety lines to the witches, with a small team ready to yank on them in order to rein in their drunken flightpaths. You wryly note that now they really WERE drunken balloons.

"Oh god, that's soooooo fucking priceless!" Red bursts out laughing. "I need a camera..."

"How about that laser defnse module ou keep talking about?" You ask.

"Ah, yes!" Sokolov literally skips over to a large aluminum box, with a large glass dome on top. "Here we have the General ARea Defense Integration Anti-projectile Network, or GARDIAN."

"What?! A laser weapon?" Merlin gasps. "You mean you solved the diffraction issues?"

"Well, currently, we're just brute forcing it with pure power output. However, since GARDIAN is designed to work at short ranges, it's not that large of an issue." Sokolo says. "GARDIAN links up to the craft's onboard radar to detect incoming projectile. The laser project here, which is capable of full 360 degree coverage, automatically locks on and destroys it with a high intensity laser. Rated to knock out pretty much any missile, but requires a cooldown time in between shots."

"W-what about power requirements?" Merlin asks. "Can a fighter really power that?"

"Power is our biggest limitation right now." Sokolov admits. "Which is why we found a temporary workaround by supplementing its power requirements with magic supplied from a witch."

"I-I see."

"Okay, but can it take down planes? Or people?"

"It is possible for it to damage aircraft, but it would have to very close, and the laser would need maintain contact with the craft for several seconds for a guaranteed kill. As for people, well, it can cause a nasty burn, but it's not designed for that sort of use, though I suppose it could blind or at least scare off a witch."

"Okay." You nod.

"So, the only thing left is to decide where this will be placed." Sokolov continues. "We can put it on the XF-19 or the Comanche. Either craft is eligible, but we only have this one unit..."

"We'll put it on the Comanche. It's the most vulnerable to MANPADS, and Laika is plenty skilled enough to dodge missiles on her own." You say.

"True enough." Sokolov nods. "We'll make the arrangements right away. Now, to the main event!"

Sokolov then trots over to another set of cargo crates.

"Now we will decide what experimental system to arm the XF-19 with!"

"What?" You blink.

"Oh, Marstech and Tesla are always coming up with new weapon concepts." Sokolov says happily. "The XF-19 was also designed to be a weapons testbed as well. It's already armed with the new AIM-9X and AIM-120X missiles, specially modified to work with COFFIN."

"What sort of weapons are we talking about here?" You ask.

ELECTROMAGNETIC LAUNCHER: The EML uses electromagnetic fields to propel projectiles at hypersonic speeds, making it a very powerful precision weapon. However, since it's a cannon, it can only fire in the fighter's front arc.

MASER: Long thought to be impossible to reverse engineer, masers were never seen to be practical weapons. However recent advances in digital computers have made masers safe to use for the first time. The lower power requirements, combined with high stopping power, make this a potentially lethal weapon, but it suffers from heavy environmental limitations such as humid environments. Only effective in the front arc.

ALL DIRECTIONAL MULTI MISSILES: Specialized modules attached to the top and bottom of the craft fire off flurries of small, vectored thrust missiles that lock onto targets after being launched. However, due to their size, they have rather low stopping power and very short range.

BURST MISSILE: An extremely large guided missile loaded with a highly explosive and highly volatile compound. Capable of mass destruction against both air or ground targets.

"That's... quite the selection." You blink.

"I know, isn't it wonderful?" Sokolov smiles.

"Laika, what do you want?" You ask.

"THE BIG GUN THING!" Laika points excitedly to the EML system.

"T-that's a good choice." Merlin nods. "High stopping power."

"We'll add that on right away!" Sokolov nods.

"Yay!" Laika cheers.

"Agh." Janice walks up to you as she towels off the sweat from her brow. "Acclimatization training is always so rough."

"Well, you witches can't have everything." You chuckle. "Where's Tarin and Ghost?"

"Right here, sir." Tarin says, behind you like always. "Just shaking off the nausea. Ghost is napping it off right now."

"I see."

"So dat's where you be!" You see Brigitte walk in, this time in SEAL fatigues rather than her tank strikers. "We be lookin' everywhere for you! De Baron be worried sick!"

"O-oh! I'm so sorry!" Merlin bows her head apologetically.

"There you are, Merlin! We've been looking everywhere for you!" At first you see what you think was Rex walk in, but you realize that he looks much younger, and you connect the dots.

"Frank Bishop?" You ask.

"That's me." The pilot nods. "Who's asking?"

"Captain William Pierce." You say. "Pararescue."

"OOOOOOOOOOOOOH!" Laika zooms in with her wheelchair, but this time she can't quite stop fast enough and crashes into Frank's leg.

"Oh my!" Janice gasps. "Are you all right?"

"Yeah, yeah, it's nothing. I'm used to this sort of thing." Frank grunts and looks at Laika. "Enthusiastic little bugger, aren't you?"

"Ehehehehe, I never thought I'd get to meet the Eagle of Tanana himself!" Laika giggles.

"Is she yours?" Frank asks, pointing to Laika.

"That's right." You nod.

"Cute kid." Frank headpats Laika, only for Merlin to sidle up next to him as if to remind him that she was still there. He then smirks. "Too bad Merlin's cuter."

You demonstrating this by picking up Laika and holding her up against your chest.

"Yeah, well, Merlin's a little genius here, and have you SEEN her eat a chocolate cake? And she's already got a boyfriend and everything!" Frank fires back.

You were going to end this and end it decisively. You start off sprinting, and so does Frank, and you both bend up neck and neck, at least for the first leg. However, you have to admit, for a squid, he's got pretty good speed and endurance. However, he's picked a fight where the odds were against him. First, you were definitely physically stronger than him, due to the demands of being a PJ. Second, Merlin was noticeably bigger and heavier than Laika was, meaning Frank had to carry more weight. The advantages seemed to manifest themselves during the second leg, as you head back to the hangar. Frank ever so slowly but surely falls behind while you keep your pace up.

"Faster! Faster!" Laika cheers.

"This is as fast as I can go!" You gasp.

However, when you take another glance back, something seems... off. For some reason, Frank was now gaining ground on you, and at a rapid pace. You wonder where the hell this second wind came from, which might actually help him win this race after all.

And when you open your eyes again, you're laying on your back, with Janice kneeling above you with a look of extreme disapproval.

"Did I win?" You croak.

"No. Nobody won, because you were both totally stupid." Janice huffs. "You two ran yourselves so ragged you both passed out on the finish line."

You and Frank turn to see Rex standing there, perplexed.

As much as I dislike Jess she'll probably only spread it within the family and close friends.

I think Jess is afraid/respects Frank to an extent.

What?

No one knows you flaming idiot, no one CAN know. Merlin was asleep in another part of the building and no one was around or could hear anything.

Don't be stupid, and I doubt Merc would fuck things up for Ghost like that.

>Our little sister is growing and she might able to deduce it just from observation.
>Hey bro you're in a good mood, oh of course this must mean you and Brigitte fucked right?

You couldn't be grasping at straws harder if you tried, stop being retarded.

Brigitte's whole mantra is "If it's pretty, fuck it." She's not loose by any means- she never has more than one partner at a time, and usually there's pretty good gaps in between- 2-3 weeks out to a couple of months. Longer, given the war. As for how people take it, well, it's highly dependent on the individual, though she usually gravitates towards people who're going to enjoy the same general things.

>>37037104

Nah. If you think about it, that's totally in keeping with Brigitte- she's said the exact same kinds of things before. I don't know if you remember the sidequest where we played as her, but she told the Valkyries almost point blank she was with Frank, well before this happened. People can infer anything they want- and probably will- but as far as anyone who knows her is concerned, it's just business as usual.

Well, that pretty much confirms that Brigitte is the SWQ-verse's version of Jack Harkness.

So Frank was one of those individuals who enjoy the same things as Bridgette or is the picture of Frank in the Fetal position afterwards a bit more canon then we though.

Bridgette who has the libido of Jack Harkness fucking someone who looks like Jack Harkness.

As amusing as they are, no, Frank was not in the fetal position there at the end.

It'd have caused too many things to cramp. hah!

It's a damn shame, though Frank seemed to reflect on his decision of doing it when he was in the shower.

I'm guessing he has never been with a witch before Bridgette. Unless the blond bimbo Frank picked up before the start of SW89 was one?

>> No.37037994

>>37037856

Pretty much, yes. While he's not totally clueless about witches I think it's safe to say he went in with an incomplete picture and failed to estimate properly.

He won't be making that mistake again, though, I should think! hahaha

Oh so Bridgette took his first witch experience.

I fear for any other witch that Frank will have and use this newfound experience expecting a similar onslaught.

Well Bridgette seemed happy so it seems he did okay for his first time with a witch.

Considering the others who had they did so under strange or violent circumstances.

Outside of the familiars and the magic, a witch is just a woman.

If you're good in bed with women, you can satisfy a witch.

I know this might come as a surprise to you, but women can be very sexually aggressive. It's not just a tick-box that gets checked on anime characters in the 'fetish' category, holy shit

When said magic can make a big difference in physical performance and abilities, then that makes a difference in bed, like healwitches going on and on and on and on.

Talking about real life women in a world where they fly in their skives

Also a running joke about broken pelvises.

Nice to see your sense of humor.
