Reposting since I made it while the thread was past the bump limit.

>> No.32905759

In response to the fellow from the last thread:
I was trying to think of who fit what roles in Ghostbusters.
Luke is undeniably Ray, even though he gets Mara (filling the role of Dana). Streen is weird enough to stand for Egon and Kam seems more like Winston to me (and hooks up with Tionne, playing Janine for this outing).
That leaves Kyle as Peter, so I think Corran gets to be the Rookie.
Oh, thank goodness! I was hurrying back from work hoping to save this onto an actual computer before the thread went down.

>> No.32905879

Well I figured the Traviss question was bait, but researching why everyone hates lead to some really good reviews supported with quotes so I don't have to read. Any other medium I'd be telling at myself for judging without trying something myself, but time is precious and wasting it on her when others can provide the information is justified... At least for me.

Still I'll be saving that image later tonight.

I more made it in response to the whole 3 million clones / ATAT is 15 meters / not canon stuff, not Traviss.

File: 93 KB, 1024x768, rebel outpost left half.jpg [View same] [iqdb] [saucenao] [google] [report]

What do you prefer for the Rebels when it comes to ground warfare? Swift vehicles (mostly speeders) used for hit-and-run tactics and guerrilla warfare? Powerful tank forces with plenty of large laser cannons and missiles? Or a mix of both?

Also, advanced military equipment, or only converted civilian craft mixed with Clone Wars-era stuff? Or again, a mix of both?

>> No.32906072

Depends on the Era. I mean, basically until Endor, the Rebs rely on guerilla tactics and infantry from what we see.

>> No.32906128

I feel like ground weaponry wasn't AS highly regulated as space stuff. Still, I imagine they don't get much more advanced than, say, light infantry carriers, with maybe some outdated tanks and the like. At least, outside core territories of the Alliance.

>> No.32906256
File: 308 KB, 468x342, RebelAttackTankconceptart.png [View same] [iqdb] [saucenao] [google] [report]

I'm okay with some tanks for the rebels, but I think some sources (mainly video games) get a bit out of hand with this. Probably in an effort to have some game balance with the Empire.

>> No.32906902

>> No.32907171

Handwave it as a salvaged/stolen Juggernaut variant?

>> No.32907475

Probably. Still, wouldn't it be a bit impractical for the rebels to carry such a huge tank around? I don't think the Gallofrees were designed to load anything that size, you'd need specialized barges or even something like an Acclamator for that job.

>> No.32907541

I'd say you could assemble them quickly like a kit car, but then that would just be too silly.

File: 68 KB, 1024x524, RebelTroopeCarrier-1024x524.jpg [View same] [iqdb] [saucenao] [google] [report]

>> No.32907866

And technically airspeeders, since they can't escape a gravity well.

>> No.32908006

Well, those fall more into air support, I'd say.

>> No.32908268

I personally think that the Rebels would weigh very heavily towards highly mobile infantry and assault gun / tank destroyer type vehicles, using a lot of camouflage, ambushes and hit-and-run tactics. Guerrilla warfare just seems to fit the Rebels better, given their decentralized organization.

File: 132 KB, 767x799, truck-mounted-6pdr-gun.jpg [View same] [iqdb] [saucenao] [google] [report]

I remember actually discussing that in the /co/ Star Wars threads (back when they were cool). My idea was a Rebel vehicle based after a small civilian cargo landspeeder, modified to carry and fire the P-Tower artillery (Hoth) from its bed. It would be used for surprise attacks against Imperial armor, relying on its speed to get out of danger before attracting too much attention.

Basically a Star Wars version of pic related.

>> No.32908970

I imagine them mostly using fighters for planet-based combat missions, and if there's too much anti-air, infantry guerilla tactics, and whatever they can steal from the Imperials.

I feel like the Rebels would mostly avoid using their own ground vehicles because, if that thing goes down, they're losing 2+ soldiers as opposed to just one footman, in addition to several thousand credits.

Sup /tg/

As you very well know, the Imperial Clusterfuck continues tomorrow as per its normally scheduled dickery. The party is headed to kamino. Here's where you guys come in. If you got a hilarious idea/enemy/npc/whatever that you wanna see IA/RA and co dick around with then post it and if it works ill fit it in somewhere. I figure it would make the following session report IA/RA posts even more memorable then it already is.

Loose overtones of next session: Terry Stark the outlaw tech returns home to find out the cause of his family going dark. The estate/lab is completely vacant save for a protocol droid (whos name escapes me but I had a cool idea for it, I'd have to check my notes). Through the droid this will be linked to Terry's family rival, none other than House Dooku. Fortunately for the rest of the party this gives them an excuse (because they really needed it) to get up in Dooku's grill and snatch the holocron in his possession. The amount of murderbonering is as always completely up to the party discression, which is always murderboner.

This may not end in one session. After the end of this I'm gonna hopefully lead them into Jewel of Yavin, or they could, you know, fuck off.

What Tur/Fel/Tycho CAN do is clear out lots and lots of fighter squads, or snipe bombers that would threaten your cap ships.

And once you're the only one with fighters, you can win almost any fight simply because turbolaser accuracy is shit. Capitals can fire for ages and kill one or two fighters in a squadron of twelve, unless it's the Executor letting all 600 or so turbolasers spray everywhere.

I've been thinking about this recently and I think that to a certain extent the 'you don't have to be a Jedi just because you can feel the Force' argument is wrong.
You can't just walk away from your heritage, not completely. Obviously, there are plenty of people who are perfectly fine with not getting the training and living with the ancient duty of protecting people. Not some of the people, or most of the people, but ALL of the people, even from themselves if need be.
Yet these people who are never trained still use their birthright, it doesn't just go away because they never got kidnapped as an infant. They learn to trust their insights, develop weaker versions of a Jedi's usual repertoire, but it never just goes away.
I'm reminded of a quote from Buffy (this is a paraphrase of a paraphrase since I've never seen Buffy): "Destiny is like a big umbrella and it doesn't really care HOW you go about fulfilling it, only that you don't stray outside the boundaries of your destiny umbrella."
So, you could go about becoming a Force-user by being the biggest Sith motherfucker ever and destiny don't give a damn because you fulfilled your destiny. Therefore, you DO have to learn to use the Force if you are Force-sensitive, but the whole robe-and-laser-sword are optional. Does that make sense?

>> No.32928862

If your destiny is to become a Force Adept, then yes, it doesn't matter what tradition you learn under as long as you hone your innate abilities. See the Witches of Dathomir, the Aing-Tii monks, all the Force-Sensitives out in uncivilized planets that don't have contact with the galactic community, so on and so forth.

Yet if it's your destiny to pick up the robe and laser sword, then it's harder to get away from. And destiny's always a funny thing from a fandom perspective in the first place - most of the time, it's the writer's reason for why things have to go the way they do.

>> No.32929083

No, no I haven't. I know that I haven't because I have the original shoop that I made and now it haunts me because I can see every tiny mistake.
Well it's the argument that child of X shouldn't have to be a Jedi because such and such, and no they SHOULDN'T. But they probably will because that's the trope.
If we throw aside that trope, though, then you take the example we've had in these threads of the fanon Skywalker daughter who's a hotshot freighter pilot. If she wants to be a freighter pilot, then Luke and Mara will probably support her even if Luke would REALLY like her to put on her robe and laser sword.
As an aside; that attitude is one of the bad parts of the EU I hope doesn't get pulled into the Disney canon, especially Luke's dismissal of other professions as unimportant. Come on, Farmboy! Appeal to what they're doing NOW, not some nebulous 'destiny'! If your sort-of girlfriend is a smuggler then pitch training as "Hey, wouldn't it be great to be able to tell if someone's cheating you or about to rob you blind duringa deal?" and not "You're wasting your life with people who are beneath you when you could join me in my fucking jungle full of evil two-headed bats."
(Back on topic) But even if this fanon daughter becomes a freighter pilot, she's still going to get taught some tricks of the trade; Luke's methods for piloting, all the training that Mara got without any of the trauma, the Corellian Guide to Maneuvers, etc. AND, since she's a Skywalker, helping people is in the blood so she'd be fulfilling her destiny in a sense by going place to place and helping people or dispensing justice as needed, no robe and wizard sword needed.

>> No.32929264

>Luke's dismissal of other professions as unimportant
The EU's stance on that seems rather inconsistent. Luke appears to be perfectly cool with Corran saying he won't even consider joining the Jedi until after the Bacta War, while Jesmin Tainer was free to pursue a career as an Antarian Ranger and Wraith rather than as a full-robe Jedi.

I think the word you're looking for is "awesome."

Reading the entry, it seems to contradict itself, though.

>At any one time there were no more than five members, usually one Kilian Lord, two Rangers and two Squires.

But other statements imply that there were fair bit more.

>The Rangers were integrated into the aristocratic hierarchy of Kilia IV as servants of the local nobles

Assuming by "local nobles" they mean a typical feudal system (which seems to be the case, since the page for Kilia IV names three known noble houses), then just five seems far too small. Especially considering they have an entire world to draw from.

And then there's the mention of the Kilian Renegades the fact that they had a "schism" like the Jedi and Sith, and that the Rangers always outnumbered the Renegades. Makes it sound like there were far more than just five at a time, in my opinion.

Why do I do this?

>> No.32930150

Similar in concept and role to a downscaled bulk cruiser, the L30 Bulk Frigate is the largest capital ship manufactured by the outer rim-based Thalassian Engineering Group, known mostly for it's mediocre but dependable freighters. Designed as a escort ship for merchent convoys and for planetery customs fleets, the L30 is a reasonabley solid ship, although it is outclassed by most other frigates, it is nevertheless dependable and easy to repair, sharing a number of parts with the Y90 Bulk transport from the same manufacturers. A few of these vessels have been aquired by pirates, who appreciate the ships' unusually choice of Ion cannons as a primary weapon, although the ship carries turbolasers as well. a number of these ships have also fallen into the hands of smugglers and mercenaries, who tend to use them as well-protected transport ships for valueable cargos and as midweight capital combat ships. quite a few have also been acquired by the rebel alliance, who often modifiy them to serve as carrier ships for starfighters
well, that's a LOT better than cloaked ships lol

A solid medium frigate design from the SoroSubb corperation, the Fearless is notable for it's somewhat weak shields, for which it compensates with heavy armor plating. The Fearless-class saw some use in the republic fleets during the clone wars, and was a competitor for the role of standard imperial frigate, but lost to the Nebulon-B, some say because of the testers' prejudice against the alien-designed Fearless-Class. For a brief time, these ships were offered in a package deal with the similarily unsuccessful Preybird-class starfighter, until they, too went out of production. These ships were later sold in large numbers to planetary defence fleets and mercenery groups, and from there a number made their way into rebel hands, and a large number were also donated to the rebel fleet when Sullust joined the rebellion, although the ships were out of production by that time, and the production equipment was sold to a group of private investors, who continued to produce the design for sale to private armies and pirate gangs.

RAW, he is able to do that under certain situations. I'll use modding a weapon as an example. You tell your GM, "Okay, I'm modding this attachment." You bust out your dice, and the GM notes you don't have the proper tools. That's enough to warrant an upgrade or 2 (depending on the type of modding) over just setbacks. You say you want to do the task in half the time as normal because of *reason*, but you don't have a sort of talent or something that would allow that - another good way to warrant upgrades.

Setbacks are obviously a little looser and easier to be tossed in. Working on something in dim lighting, parts or tools you're using are a little old or aren't in the best condition, etc.

But obviously I'm assuming from your description that it's more of him mentioning an obstacle, and then you say you'll do it with X equipment, and then he comes out with arbitrary difficulties and probably doesn't explain the reason why. To this, I'd suggest talking to him. Since if he just wants to make things hard to make them hard, that's what Destiny Points are for.

Yeah I guess it is broken but other than a single character who only lasted 3 sessions before leaving the group, I've never had an issue with Jedi being fully broken. On Kamino, they learn the real reason Clones are no longer used. Cloning proved to be against the natural law of the universe, one of the most wicked forms of science to be excercised.
After a few years, clones always go insane. Their behaviour eventually becomes unpredictable at first, but always in the end becomes immoral and wicked, like the science to create them.

The clones didnt turn on just the Jedi by order (Order 66), they turned on everybody and a new army - stormtroopers needed to be recruited to eliminate the massive clone army that was randomly attacking ships all across the core worlds.

Order 66 was just a story created by locals to explain the unlimited power the Emperor possesses.

>A hyperactive, acrobatic, fast-talking Corellian man in love with speed, and the only thing he loves more than speed is getting up close and personal with his enemies
>A Toydarian who's an absolute artist with explosives... but only when he's sufficiently drunk

>A brilliant human engineer who builds droids and cybernetics, and even sports of few of his own designs

Sure you can take that LA+8 race, get it to level 20 with flip flopping alignment and different classes so you can get the most optimized, perfect, build. However, in roleplay that shit is, well shit. No one gives a fuck about your half fae/vampire/lycanthrope who alternates from lawful good to chaotic evil every level and in the end can punch out a sun. It's just a boring character to roleplay with.

Proton torpedoes are bigger mini nuke type deals.

Concs are smaller, sorta a cross between a conventional explosive and some sort of repulsor/particle shield like technology for a double shockwave punch. They are also more compact and easier to fit with better engines and guidance systems.

There should be healthbar shields, but when they get to about 15% they should occasionally get partially bypassed, taking about half the damage of every shot as if they were a layer of soak. (Like how it works for Kyle's personal shield: at low power it starts getting bypassed a bit (Which is actually good because Force Heal.) I think maybe a healthbar that regens a small percentage each round and can spend System Strain (Or reroute power from other systems for less or no strain but a number of other penalties) to regen faster?
The TIES are a bit too close to Rogue Squadron's really easy ones, the TIE Fighter ties could tank a few glances.

If you're gonna use Zann, I'd advise linking him to that Chop'aa guy in TFU's PS2/Wii version. The guy who encouraged him to leave black Sun and then recruited the remnants of his gang, including some of the Crusader Corvettes (Possibly Havod-hulled since they seem to love red)

It's not 30 troops, it's maybe 15 tops if you cram people in the front medical bay, more usually a dozen.

And there's one starboard blaster, probably they should each be 15 personal.
