Thanks for the thread everyone!

Again, we're maybe two threads out from this aside. After this, we may start staggering CPM threads while I get some rest and maybe prepare for the next big quest was thinking about!

As always, stay up to date with my twitter if you want information on new or current quests.

Let me know what you thought of today's thread, and stay tuned next week for the exciting conclusion of this little aside!

>> No.46683888 [View]

Thanks for the thread everyone. Sorry this one seemed kind of short, but that's a weekday thread for you.

I will see about running an extra thread next week to make up for it or maybe running a bit longer on saturday if we can get to it. I appreciate getting to write an SoL epilogue, it's pretty fun!

Until next time. Thank you for participating!

Everyone, thank you so much for sticking with me so long with this silly Magical Girl story of mine.

I feel as if I've done everything I wanted to with it, and for that I thank you. It's been a wonderful ride. This little obsession of mine really sprouted into quite an incredible little story. I'm happy for everyone who made it possible.

>>46450869
>Is this the end of the quest?

Nope. Because, like I promised, there are still SoL epilogues to get through by popular demand. We'll be a few more weeks until I hang this idea up for a while.

>Are you ever going to revisit it again?

Who knows! I'm sure we'll see Masami and friends again. Maybe if not in this quest, then in others. I've already got a couple ideas for future plots involving this very cast!

>Are you going to write another quest when this is over?

As a matter of fact, I might. I have another idea in the works, but it's only sort-of Magical Girl in nature.

But for now, I would just like to rest. Maybe take a couple months off and plan on finishing DDQ within that time. Only then will I consider running two quests at once ever again.

Everyone, thank you for everything. I will see you next time!

Thanks for the thread everyone, sorry it wasn't longer. This thread really feels like the part 2 continuation of last thread. Which is kind of sad because I wanted this to finish faster than I had anticipated.

I'm hoping to run on Thursday uninterrupted. In the meantime, think about how you want to deal with the problem presented.

There are many ways!

Until next time!

Okay, sorry for the slow update rate the last half of the thread. I was dealing with RL problems and I'm crashing quick.

Next thread may be tomorrow or Monday. Let me check my schedule. I'll announce it hopefully tomorrow on twitter.

Thanks for the thread everyone. Let me know what you thought.

Thanks for the thread everyone. Sorry it was short and we didn't really get anywhere.

That is going to change soon. I'm going to hopefully get everything sped up for the next few threads. Hope to see you then!

"So um." I try to think of a way to open up the next thing I'm going to say. "What DO you remember?"

She tilts her head toward the blue sky. Her hat nearly falls off her head.
"I remember an axe."
"That's good! What else do you remember?"

Her face suddenly seems uncomfortable.
"I don't like axes."

"..Okay! How about a huge building? Do you remember something like that?"

"What's a building? Is it like a house?"

Oh, oh no. She's not smart!
Kaori interjects, "It's like, uh, it's like a really big house. With lots of rooms! For lots of people!"
"I don't remember anything like that, sorry."

"Wait! One more question, what does 'fun' feel like?"
"..You want to play a game?" She tilts her head.

This isn't getting us anywhere.
"What do you remember about this axe?" Kaori with the save.

"It was big, and blue. Very heavy, too." She frowns, "That's all I remember. I don't really want to talk about it."

>Can you tell us just a little?
>Pleeeeaasse?
>We won't judge!
>Why was it heavy?
>Want to meet someone else cool?
>Want to come with us?
>Other?

The secretary giggles, I have a very angry pout on my face.
Then I remember, Julie isn't crying anymore!

"Are you feeling better, Julie?" I throw the piece of paper under my chair.
"I-I think so, but." Her face is reddened, and eyes are puffy.

"There's no reason to feel bad, Julie. Look! Your power is cool! It's not scary."
"It's really scary, though!"

"Listen, isn't it only scary if you make it that way?"
"Uh."

"Then don't make it scary!"
"How am I supposed to make ripping off parts of my own body NOT SCARY!?"

That's a good question, and one that I hadn't thought about before I asked her about this problem.
"Well, you said you have other powers, right? Want to try them? It'll just be me and you!"

"Good." The girl across the table sighs, "I'm getting tired. I'll see you two in the morning."

I don't let that slow me down, I keep my eyes intently focused on Julie.
"Listen, maybe you'll feel better about your powers if you try them out some?"

She looks sad all of the sudden.
"I'm not sure I want to."
"It'll be fine Julie! I'm here! I only got scared by them once!"

Julie grabs my hand, and gently shivers.
"Okay. I'll try them. Just for you."
"Great!"

>Show me everything you can do, I want to know all of it
>No no, that might be bad, let's just see the ones you're comfortable with.
>Let's try something small, then I can comfort her on not being a monster
>Let's try something new! I can take it!
>I don't know about this, maybe I'm in over my head.
>Other?

Thanks for the thread everyone.
Sorry we started so late.

Anyway, let me know what you thought of our newest ability. I'm going to go collapse into bed.

Okay, thanks everyone for the thread. Sorry it didn't last longer. I would stay and chat but I got to go.

Let me know what you thought of it, I'll try to run again this week on Saturday.

OH MAN THAT WAS FUN TO WRITE!

I was waiting for that for so long! Staying up for three hours past when I should have gone to bed was so TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Thanks to EVERYONE who made tonight possible. I'm really happy with how this turned out!

Not sure when next thread will be because:
Real life stuff in the next post. Don't worry! nothing bad!

"No, Mom. I need to search for Kaori! She couldn't have got very far, I was right behind her! Can you look around on the streets, if I go check the subway or the school?"
"Oh, Okay! Call me if you find anything!"

We say our goodbyes and hang up. I'm already running down the street calling Kaori's name by the time Mom hangs up.

--

Not on the streets, and I didn't see anything from the sky.
I checked the nearest subway terminal as well, nothing.
Mom says she hasn't seen her anywhere, either. She's taking the time to ask random strangers if they've seen her, too.

When she wants to hide, she can be really, really good at it.

I'm almost back home now, and I'm starting to feel worried.
That's when my phone buzzes in my pocket.

"Eh? Maeda?"
"Masami, do you know why Kaori just locked herself in a room and started crying?"

Oh! Oh good find.
"-Sort of! Which clubroom? The occult one?"
"No, um." There's some rattling in the background. "I think it's a janitor's closet. "
"I'll be right over!" I say, cheerily. At least now I don't have to worry about finding her!

Without another word, I happily dial Mom and tell her where Kaori is. Maybe today is looking up after all!

>Cont.

Okay, sorry about the huge 2-hour gap in the middle there.

Thanks everyone for the thread, I really appreciate being able to get to this point in the story.

Thanks to everyone who participated, let me know what you thought of the thread today.

>> No.36898308 [View]

Everyone, I am now busy with something IRL. So posts will be "When I can get to them."

Hopefully they won't be any more than an hour between updates, but if they are, I'm sorry!

I'm still here, just going really slowly!

>> No.36631363 [View]

Okay, really sorry for how this thread went. I was hoping for more progression and more story posts.

I hope you enjoyed what little of it there was! I'll try to run again sometime this week to make up for it. Until next time, thank you for reading!

I walk down the road toward the large, glass house at the corner of the block. There doesn't appear to be that many people out today aside from the occasional jogger, despite it being Sunday.
Weird.

My hand reaches into my front pocket and takes out the card collection that I seem to have started. So far I have five cards total,

Haruko, the red card that has the miraculous ability to heal
Julie, the blue card that has a very sharp outfit and an even sharper sword.
That purple card I got from a guy with an axe, last time I used it I seemed to be able to float or maybe even fly.
Another card that seems to be half-finished, I got this one from a monster in Fortune who attacked my friends.
And the last card that I just drafted, it's a grey card with a kind of white hue to it. On it's front is a picture of the set of armor I made and the wall of a castle.

I should probably think of names for those last three cards. How about, Belle? Maybe? I need to think on it some more.

Walking down the sidewalk, Aiko's house comes into view. The sun shines brightly off the sleek windows and somewhat messy lawn.

Except something is different this time. A window on the second floor is open, and I could have swore I saw someone jump from it and run in a sprint along the back of the house.

Uh oh.

>Quick! Follow it!
>No its probably nothing, knock on her front door.
>Fly up to the open window
>Other?

I sit, thinking about that question for what seems like a really long time. My hand runs through Aiko's hair and over her scalp absentmindedly. She stirs slightly and leans her head onto the seat.

"...I really don't know, Ryouta."
"Hmm? Oh." He seemed to have forgotten that he even asked that question.

"I want to protect Mom, and I want to protect you guys too. And also.."
I look down at Aiko, this is a little selfish for me to say.
"I also want to know how the cards are made. Doing that might help me understand who I am, and how I was made."

Ryouta sighs, "So I guess that means you're going to be working for Fortune?"
"Not in the slightest."

Maeda and Ryouta look over at me, Aiko adjusts her position in my lap.

"I'm not going to be working FOR Fortune, I'm just going to learn how to make their magic cards. Besides, if I really am as super powerful and special as they say I am."
I smile at them
"Then I would be putting that all to waste being their lackey, wouldn't I?"

Ryouta chuckles a bit, Maeda actually smiles for the first time today.
Maeda reaches her hand over to me.
"Whatever you decide, Masami. We're all here for you."
"..I think I already know what I want to do, Maeda."
"Hmm?"

The car pulls up to the school. Mom looks back at me as I say that.
"..I'm going to take down Fortune. I don't care how long it takes for me to do it, it's going to happen."

Mom is still smiling, it's kind of unsettling.
"That's exactly why, I didn't want you to have your life determined for you from the minute you were born. I didn't believe that was the best way to raise you, so I took you somewhere you could lead the life you deserved, instead."
She says that, but how do I know that I deserved this life in the first place?

She leans back, "As for them harrassing you, I don't want you to worry about it anymore. I'll see what I can do about that."

"Really?" Aiko says, now she looks happy, "Can you really do something about it?"

"Of course! What kind of a mother would I be if I wasn't able to protect my own daughter?"
She has a kind of pride in her voice that I've never heard before now.

I'm not entirely sure if she actually can protect me, around the clock, but she seems convinced otherwise.
