What branch of maths is the most useful to you, /sci/?

I guess Topology is right at bottom in terms of usefulness for a lot of people.

Stats is absolutely up there. but >>9511916 is 100% correct. Basic arithmetic is a thing we do almost every day.

Nummerics can solve pretty much anything with a neglectable error which I find acceptable as an engineer. It may sound shitty, but the farther you get the more it dominates all math disciplines, simply because it gets shit done.

how much math do you know as an engineer to talk about all math disciplines?

2016's nobel prize was given to the 1st application of Topology to practical problems in Electrical Engineering

This caused a lot of Butthurt in Pure Mathematicians who hate when someone find a new useful application of Math.

Since Mathematicians hate when math is applied to something useful.
