Physics/chemistry fags, quick relationship question if you will

If an object is, say, 50% submerged in a liquid and is floating (buoyant force and all that), is its density 50% of the liquid's density?

If no then can someone explain how to find density of the floating object based on what fraction of it is submerged and the density of the liquid?

For example how do you find a ball's density if it is 40% submerged in seawater, which has density 1.025 g/cm^3

Kind of, yes. If it were a solid floating object than the answer is definitely yes. If its not solid, like a boat or a balloon, then it depends on if you count include the air or water inside as part of the object or not.

But yeah, a floating object displaces a volume of water which weighs exactly as much as the floating object, so 40% submerged implies 40% the density of water.
