Do you (or do you feel like you'd have to) sacrifice your physical fitness/social life/hobbies in order to achieve greatness at a subject? Do you feel like increasing your knowledge trumps most other things?

Ok, maybe not greatness as in the next Newton. I mean something like actually producing insightful reseearch when doing projects. Or all you people doing independent study. How limited do you feel in your potential at the subject?

Has anyone here gone from /fit/ back to dyel in order to achieve academic greatness? I feel like I want to, but if I reduce my eating in order to not get fat my mood goes all over the place because of the lack of happy hormones.
