If infinity is a concept this is true.

<span class="math">\aleph_0
is a cardinal
<span class="math">\omega
is an ordinal
<span class="math">+\infty
is a member of the extended reals
All of them are concepts and could be justifiably be called numbers. None of them are reals. Now go away.

If -infinity isn't real to you can i believe in it?

>> No.5518769

Of course that's true, why wouldn't it be?

why.

You have to define = OP...

If you mean = as an equality operation for "concepts" then it is true that inf = inf.

However, if you mean = as equating what those individual concepts represent then in general you can neither say that they are equal or not equal, you need more information.

0+1 = 1. Is 1 real?
1+1 = 2. Is 2 real?
2+1 = 3. Is 3 real?
3+1 = 4. Is 4 real?
Infinity not real.
