because the bottom part will spin around while the blades stay stationary.


thats why helicopters have that back blade/jet or have 2 sets of blades on top of one another.


they prevent the helicopter from counter rotating, either by literally holding it with force (by pushing against the direction it wants to spin), or by counter rotating in the same plane of the main blades (helicopters with 2 sets of rotors).


in the case of 2 rotors, they often just slow down one of the blades to make the helicopter yaw (slow down 2nd blades, helicopter yaws in the direction it "wants to turn" due to the bottom blades, speed up top blades/slow bottom blades and it yaws the other direction)
