When the public finally figures out that there will always be another hoop for them to jump through before things get back to "normal". Right now they still believe "if we just do this one more thing, we can get concerts back". Some hoops will come with a small taste of freedom but it's still an endless set of ever changing actions required to be allowed to do things that used to be simply unrestricted.

I'm an actual scientist, and I work my ass off saving ungrateful people like you, as a researcher and a physician. The fact that there are other scientist who actually eat this stuff up is honestly pretty fucking worrying.
Getting people to perform their responsibilities is hard enough without having know-it-all "uhm, ackshually I'm a scientist in a completely unrelated field" type guys spouting misinformation.
I honestly hope this new administration will force all the necessary mandates that are needed on people (to take the vaccine, wear the mask, social distance, etc. until this is all over).

This graph is so half-assed.
It only contains 35 nations (by my count, could be mistaken but it misses America and China for example, which are major data points), it only records October cases, and it's done per case instead of per capita (which makes smaller nations look like they have a good policy when it could be just the fact that they have a smaller population).
Thankfully, even countries like Sweden, which took a misguided laissez-faire approach to lockdowns are begining the process of tightening restrictions (though not enough, and apparently they still haven't implemented lockdowns, leaving themselves behind every other industrialized nation including the U.S. for godsake!)

or rather, now that the precedent has been set and people are bending over backwards, the government will be much more inclined to use the most extreme means to ensure disease control, even if the disease is something half as transmissible as the swine flu.
once covid is over (if it is over), there will be a lull of about a year before the media blows a smaller outbreak of a different virus out of proportion, and then it's right back to the same shit.
the covid normal might end, but the coming decades will be the decades of a new, disease-focused normal, in the same way the years after 2001 focused on a new, terrorism-focused normal.

Corona virus is an outright fraud. If "corona virus nineteen" exists it has the same mortality rate as influenza and the same transmission vector. Under any scrutiny the inflated statistics fall apart, the testing falls apart, any reason to have any sham distancing or masks evaporates.
Powerful interests such as big pharma, the hospital industry, the media and big government all have a very real stake in renaming common influenza a and b into something very, very scary. There is no denying that.

Don't move goalposts. I know you're too stupid to understand the entirety of the situation, but the point was never to eradicate anything. And, ironically, flu infections and deaths still happened. They were just *slowed*, which was the whole point of the lockdown procedures. To slow the spread of a disease that's more infections than black plague.
But to you, it makes no sense that the spread other respiratory diseases like covid-19 and the flu would be slowed using the literal same policies that are already recommended to slow the spread of respiratory diseases like covid-19 and the flu. To you, it makes no sense that when you institute those recommendations on a massive, nearly global scale, you'd see a global reduction in cases similar respiratory diseases while a hyper-infectious disease with no extant resistance and only a recently invented vaccine still manages to proliferate.

To you, absolutely none of this makes sense, and sounds like bullshit, because you have no ability to even understand that the sensation of making sense to you is not and never has been the foundation of analytical or logical thought, which has been proven historically even among truly genius people with robust educations.

Unironically, you should just shut up and do what people tell you, because you are actually too stupid to run your own life.

Hospitals in Italy and France were completely overloaded, despite the improvised extra stations for covid-19 patients. Germany took the excess patients in.

No, if the whole healthcare system and a majoirty of hospitals collapse (and it is especially pronounced in countries with lax covid measures), then you can say that covid was indeed as bad as predicted. If only a small number of hospitals collapse around the world (and countries with lax lockdown/mask wearing don't have more collapses), then that collapse is entirely on hospital staff and local government.

The problem is population density which requires tons of resources in an area not suited towards their production.

Any infrastructure in cities is subject to collapse with the slightest push and pull out of equilibrium.

Most of these sorts of viruses start and flourish in urban environments. Hence why there is such split in understanding of the virus. People in rural environments (generally Republican leaning) simply have much less surface area exposed to this virus. I didn't expect a sane reply. You're right that equilibrium in big cities is an unstable system, but it has some redundancy/safety factors, unless complete idiots planned the city. That's why in bad flu seasons, no problems at all arise for the infrastructure. Not even improvised beds and camps are necessary.
Now, even those camps and improvised beds were overwhelmed.

>I acknowledge the virus is a problem, but you have to acknowledge it generally applies to these Democrat run cities
If we change that to big cities, we have a deal. The way you formulate it makes it sound like it's the Republicans and or Democrats who are involved here in any way, although it's really the things you mentioned before.

Right. Republicans and Democrats (or whatever loose Conservative/Liberal model that fits in non US countries) do not create rural or urban environments, but the reverse tends to take place with some minor feedback mechanisms.

I will go ahead and admit ignorance to a lot of the urban infrastructure issues, but I think these differing perspectives of both urban and rural peoples is far more important than the political differences. From my perspective, this whole thing is massively overblown, but I do also acknowledge that a lot of the concerns simply don't apply to me. Someone who does live in a city (big, medium or small) probably should engage in mask wearing and probably should consider taking the vaccine if they have preexisting health conditions. However, it annoys me that, as usual, two camps have formed, and no one is acknowledging that both camps may just need different things.
