Ask some programmers that maintain something like banking infrastructure how well their system works. Most of them will answer that it's like a circular house that's constantly on fire, but they can keep rebuilding it as fast at it burns down by some nice management tricks.

from their trading partners would be relatively unaffected by the pandemic. They knew that because of their authoritarian society, they were best equipped to weather a severe viral outbreak, and now this is the result.
