Why is it that, in an age where we are the most educated and knowledge is available, people foster pseudo-science like anti-vaccine information, flat-earth theories, race superiority, etc?

>> No.12027609

because it has become way easier to spread misinformation, and people can always choose to ignore real information no matter how easy it is.
basically people now seek out information to fit their narrative, and it's guaranteed that that information will exist in some sort of community.

Given that it’s the easiest point in human history to access knowledge, it stands to reason that people who would previously be too dumb to learn anything are now capable of gaining just enough information to be wrong.

just ignore them. we're currently giving way too much attention to these fringe schizos which is the best way to keep them afloat. who cares if they're .01% of the population? their communities won't grow without the widespread coverage (documentaries, news articles, publicized conventions) that they currently receive
trying to censor them with stuff like "Fake news detectors" on facebook will just make them mad and create a whole new league of anti-censorship movements.

>>12027607
Everything listed appeals to biases and aren't uniform in belief. Antivax is prevalent with mothers, and the reasons for their belief aren't really about the science and more about biased decision making that leads them away from vaccination. Some people are overly hesitant about vaccines, and may delay vaccinations but still get them while on the other end of the spectrum is the loud minority pushing the unscientific garbage. And due to the backfire effect, overwhelming people with contrary evidence doesn't work and makes unscientific belief stronger. It's a failure of scientific communication, an unprecedented platform for bullshit, and is exacerbated by declining trust in institutions.
>>12027612
People should be introduced to formal logic and shown examples of biased decision making. If people can recognize a bad argument when it's being made and why it's a bad argument, that can help some. One method I like is to not necessarily debate and change someones mind, but instead "steer" a conversation in a way that highlights the shortcomings of a belief and show a better approach while assuming there's an audience that falls in other parts of a belief spectrum and hopefully convince the crowd if a person can't be reached. It's always worth remembering that people lurk and there's way more of them in the crowd than there are people debating a matter. It can be leveraged very effectively by demagogues, so it's worth re-appropriating for more factual claims.

Stop thinking you know everything. Most of these ideas have a grain of truth. Claim the truth and drop the garbage.

>Flat earthers
These are a product of the fact most people know 0 science AND become highly suspiscious of authority. Show them where the authority is wrong (NASA is not some perfect institution, neither is USG) and show them where they are right. The latter part of this is widely available, public criticism of the institutions not so much.

>anti-vaccine
Again, people have died from vaccines, acknowledge the fact. But these sort of risks are not uncommon in context ie vaccine deaths will be far lower than deaths by car.

It is not actually clear what proportion of the variance of common diseases were eliminated by vaccines as opposed to sanitation. Vaccines really come into their own when stopping an epidemic or a pandemic. Lack of exercise is going to be much less healthy than taking a vaccine, again its about context. Some chemicals in vaccines are weird, but the human body is pretty robust with organic molecules.

>race superiority
Again. The truth here is that evolution didn't stop at the neck and there are significant differences in cognitive and physical abilities between populations of different ethnogenesis.

The problem for the supremecists is that most whites are not that exceptional. It is North western Europeans that made the modern world (England, France, Germany), not poland, italy, spain, sweden...
People are beginning to notice sub-saharan africans are not becoming first rate scientists, engineers, artists. Pretending it will magically happen if more money is funneled their way will just make people move to the 'supremacist' side.

It's a pushback against increasing authoritarianism along with people choosing the path of least resistance

for example i support vaccines but do not support forced medical care of any kind

i support the idea a man can believe what he wants but when he starts telling me in absolute terms it is the truth and i must believe too or die i must stand my ground

basically we are seeing what happens when you press society from every angle, pressure mediation takes effect

another problem you are possibly unaware of is the fear you create in a populace when you demand they conform to your views, claim You are on the right side of history and tell them if they are not with you they are against you

fear takes over and you have effectively destroyed a major part of the trust people once had for the authorities which keep society in check and repelled them so severely they are willing to support anything else that isn't You

so instead of focusing on telling others how to live, what is right and what is wrong, merely present the information, focus on your own life and lead by example instead of trying to indirectly or directly control the lives of others

don't bother responding to this. goodbye sci

because nobody understands anything any more. it's too complicated for normal people.
in the old days people could repair their own cars, phones were largely mechanical devices, fixing televisions was an actual job
now most people wouldn't have a clue how to fix anything beyond maybe changing an entire circuit board at a push
technology has outstripped people's ability to understand it. that causes people to seek other explanations.

Are you saying there's no biological differences between human sub-species( races )? Flat-earth theory is obviously false, but it's good they question the science. Perhaps some of them will learn along the way. It's an established scientific fact that are physical differences between races (uhh... that's what skin colour is - different evolutionary line), and it isn't limited to skin, but also applies to muscle types, body types and so on. An average nigger is stronger than an average asian, and is also taller.
Why do you think the same wouldn't apply to the way their brain works? We are governed 100% by genes first. Who says their brains didn't evolve to make them more aggressive, or score less on IQ tests?

Even anti-vaccine movement isn't that stupid. There ARE adverse effect to a small % of the population. Some vaccines more than others, certain governments even paid reimbursements to some people (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pandemrix).). Anti-vaccine movement is mostly stupid, for rather obvious reasons, but even they have some merit. Adverse effects in drugs or vaccines is a thing, you know?

Science had things wrong all the time. No matter how back in history you go, and how well people at the time time thought they had it all, there was ALWAYS something wrong. Only fools and tools do not question mainstream scientific beliefs. Especially in this rotten corporate world, where politics and corporate interests constantly encroach on science.

Honestly, anti-vaxxers are more intelligent than you, quite frankly. Sheep.

Vaccine cases go to a special court, its very hard to sue for vaccine induced injury even if they would pump it full with acid i.e tomorrow.

All vaccines have Aluminum in them which is directly correlated in the brain with Autism and Alzheimer. And no real way to remove Aluminium besides sicilic acid but if your water is fluoridated. Mixing Sicilic acid with fluoride in the stomach becomes hydrofluoric Acid.

Matter of fact normal water contains sicilic solution also so enjoy drinking hydrofluoric acid goy haha.

PS: vaccines are ran through rat brains in production and able to pickup novel retrovirusses
