I still don't get why dθ=dL/L when formulating an expression for the angular speed of precession. Since at most it should be sinθ, the only thing I can think of is that θ and sinθ are asymptotic for infinitesimals (sinθ θ as θ approaches zero). Is that right?

the change in the angular momentum is directly proportional to the change in the angle of the angular momentum multiplied by the value of the angular momentum that is changing
