I just want to read about various scientific disciplines from people that are passionate about it.
Anyone know any good books?

Brief History of Time was written by Hawking himself and was simplifed enough for even a highschool undergrad to understand

One of the heads of Fermilab (certified by Dep of Energy) wrote Dark Matter and Dinosaurs. Haven't read it yet but should be amazing.

Try reading straight up from Wikipedia. You'll be surprised at how much you can understand.
Well, maybe?
Fermilab vids are amazingly simple. Watch them

Max Gleick's 'Chaos' is apparently a fantastic primer on chaos theory and other physics rabbit-holes without requiring the reader to be particularly mathematically proficient or scientifically literate.
