To be fair, plenty of wealthy Silicon Valley types have been scammed before. Juicero managed to get $120 million in venture capital funding, and then there was that whole Theranos mess.

That said, research on aging and how to mitigate it is certainly a worthy subject of study, and it does surprise me that we don't see older billionaires tossing more money at. I mean Warren Buffet is coming up on 90 years old; what would he have to lose by throwing a few billion at the issue? With all his connections you would think he could find one competent person to put in charge of the research project & make sure the money is spent usefully. Same is true for pretty much every other billion over the age of 70.
