Does anyone have the math puzzle from a week or two ago, with a bug on a 1x1x2 box where you have to maximize the minimum path along the surface? I saw it on /lit/ but I think it was posted here first

I'm confused as to why you need the puzzle as you seem to have defined the problem just fine?

Anyway, to answer your question: the only similar problem I know concerns a 1x1x1 cube across the surface of which you are asked to find the shortest path from one vertex (A) to another on the opposite side of the cube (B).

It is a nice little puzzle that may take you a couple minutes or more as its solution is trivial, so I won't spoil it.

I found the problem. I remember it fine but I wanted to send the post to a friend. I’ve mostly worked out the solution but I can tell you this version is not trivial at all.

answer: inside the box

Ah, very nice. Yeah, I can see why the maximal distance would be more difficult. Thanks, anon. Saved for later.
