We've only discovered .01% of all math.

How does this make you feel?

Maths imply consciousness.

Makes me feel like you are a retard because nobody would know something like that, if it's even finite.

doesn’t the incompleteness theorem basically show math is infinite?

>> No.11451060

>>11451049
it is infinite depending on what you consider math. you can always increase complexity and create new functions but the practical part is finite

Great. Because it means we haven't wasted too much effort on a system which is clearly built on poor conceptions. What we have presently are tautologies. An entire system which has built entirely around self referencing axioms. Its been developed from glorified bean counting. Its so ingrained most of us go through life without ever questioning it.

Now this is fine, it sort of works. Gets bridges built, does finance very well, takes us to the moon and back. But there is something fundamentally in error with the basic principles. The very basic concept of numbers themselves. As a result we get all sorts of absurdities arising. Negative numbers. Infinities. Irrational numbers. No, I am not Norman. I dont think he is is on the right track, but at least he has recognized the problems.

In a finite universe, yes. In theory, prove it.

big if true, lol

I think math is kinda implied to be infinite (or broken) by the incompleteness theorems. Not sure though. That's too big-brain of a math area for me.
