I wasn't sure which board to post this one, but figured this one came the close, as forensics and forensic psychology would best fit under /sci/

Why is it that serial killers often hunt within their own ethnic group, that never made sense to me, why is it they're more often men, and finally why do so many target prostitutes, is it because they're less likely to be missed, are easy prey, or because it allows them in their mind to think of them as being less than human, so that they feel less guilt of their crimes?

If their base motivation is a sexual thrill (eg Andrei Chikatilo), then within-group sexual preference would explain that generally.

the reason why some serial killers target whores is because they are simply easy to dominate as the killings are generally about power as the killer lack it in their daily life it might also be something about impurity though thats more rare

It's mostly for reasons of stealth and ease of navigation that their victims tend to be in the same general demographic, and pursued on whatever grounds or kinds of places are most familiar to them. For instance in Dahmer's case, where most the victims were different racially, that was mostly because of the class similarity to them in the mixed neighborhood where he lived, and the bars he frequented. The principle isn't that different from any other kind of crime of passion or profit, in that it tends to be familial, and as such within similar races & classes.
