This is the closest you’ll get technological speaking. From what I understand a Tulsa is just an NPC (like in a video game)

Yeah but apparently they're autonomous, so Im fine with an NPC.

It's unlikely you'll be ever be able to give yourself voluntary hallucinations, even with practice, without either drugs or a pre-existing condition. Delusions, on the other hand, are piss easy. So creating a tulpa should be simple: make up an imaginary friend, and then convince yourself it's real.

>> No.11145764

>>11145735
Hmm but what about all the people in the tulpa community who swear they can visualize and vocalize their tulpas? I mean they are mega autists furries or bronies for the most part, but surely they aren't all just larping?

I used to be into new age stuff, some might have conformation bias, some might be legitimately schizophrenic, many are partially psychotic; I know I was.

To visualize something, to form a mental image or sound, is something anybody can do and may be quite vivid. It is different from a hallucination, which is a genuine sensory perception of something that does not (objectively, externally) exist. If you've ever hallucinated, you should easily grasp the difference. Picturing a 6' rabbit is not the same as seeing a 6' rabbit.

I suspect most of them are visualizing their imaginary friends in the normal way, and then deluding themselves into thinking they're "real" or independent.

you'd be surprised what the mind can do. evident by the fact that we imagine things in the dark that clearly aren't there all the time. i wouldn't put it past our ability, but it would probably be impossible to prove objectively.

A tulpa is just a though form, a parallel personality maybe if you want to see it like that, if you're a writer who visualizes his characters you're basically doing the same thing.
You don't have a single definite personality anyway, it's always a mishmash of situational variations, the only reason you feel like you feel a continuity to who you are is thanks to memories acting as a root to your main personality. But even that, if you pay attention, still slowly changes over time.
The memory acting as roots is why you have to isolate a person from his usual environment if you want to brainwash them.

I personally make great use of thought-forms for my novel, it's a great exercise to train you flexibility of mind and gain deeper insight into the characters you want to depict.
I also sporadically carry mental conversation with a semi-permanent thought-form, or tulpa if you want the meme, because I want to try training it in order to get second opinions.
It's just like roleplaying I guess or even just imagining how someone you know would react to something.

Why would it not be real? You're already packed full of different personalities that you probably don't even realize.

If you want a tulpa don't do it for schizo delusional reasons, do it for gaining greater flexibility and insight, so you can grow as a person.
And let me be clear, there's no moral dilemma to "killing off" a though-form, you've been killing off your own previous personalities all along, do you feel bad about that? No, it's called growing up, so don't be a faggot and do what must be done.

I suppose it indeed is, most of what it technically needs is just a piece of brain matter somewhat isolated within the larger brain; I suppose a healthy brain should have the capacity to do that. Whether it's advisable is another idea.

>I never heard of it, it must be a mistranslated word from anime or something.
Now, it is a fully reasonable position not to believe in it, or to believe trying to create it is a bad idea that will lead to mental problems (or is on its own a sign of mental illnes) however you are being such a retard about it that your opinion is invalid.

This is also known as practicing mindfulness in Buddhism. Stripping away the things that form your distinct personality based on memories and experiences and learning to see things from an unconditioned perspective. Not just how do I see this situation based on my "self", but how do I see it from no self or another self with different experiences and memories, this is a form of clairvoyance aka being an empath. It makes one clairvoyant in that the practitioner is able to accurately predict the future based on variables imperceivable to mundane normies that lack the ability to perecieve these variables and crunch likely outcomes based on them. Comes in very handy for professional grifters and gamblers, also stage magicians etc

>> No.11149421

BTW also a good practice for this >>11149406 is put yourself in the shoes of characters you read in books/movies just fiction in general. It is a very effective mindfulness technique. It is akin to what is known as thought experiments. You can even form muscle memory from such things without ever actually phsycially doing them, only doing them in your mind
