Can you use the knowledge of mathematics and physics to defeat the fear of your own mortality?

Of course. Pursuit of knowledge eventually leads to God.

my rage can not simply disappear when my body ceases to function.
it must persist, at least until the heat death of the universe.

physics has driven me to a very unhealthy lifestyle where i drink too much and smoke too much and post in this shithole way too much, so empirically, yes

What's the last thought a mathematician/physicist has before dying?

>> No.11118326

Am I the only one thats not afraid of dying? Like yes, im terrified of the pain of drowning etc, but dying itself does not scare me at all right now. (of course that could change, but i dont have fear of mortality at this point)

Same. Though I am not scared of being in the state of death (because once it happens, it happens - can't fight that) but being in the transitional process to death (dying). That's what I fear the most and I always almost pee my pants every time I have a panic attack.

i wish we had old anons here. old people are great at living with seeing all their friends and family die. they come to grips with mortality and even the horrible sequence of events that leads to them going into the hospital for the last time. old people know this stuff and the ones who i know/knew were pretty stoic about the whole process.

i know at least one person who is in their 90s and has a very based outlook on life and has a very real outlook on things whenever they go to the hospital (considering all the young people they know assume the worst, and they prove them entirely wrong over and over). old people know mortality and have a very jaded and sober look on the topic. many of them just don't give a flying fuck and accept that things are shit for them and they are doomed aside from some slim possibilities. i am trying to adopt this outlook even though i'm 30. i want to be at peace with mortality and the fact that in all likelihood everything i know and love will die before i do

You can defeat your fear of literally everything if you get your amygdalae destroyed.
