Many years ago, for the briefest of moments, /sci/ used math captchas, and the board was better for it. Why not bring those back? I don't mean simple math either.

Example of simple match captcha. We don't want this shit. Do we?

I agree, just do it. It needs to be sufficiently high brow to eradicate brainlets and undergrads who can just use worlfram Alpha. Ask to compute cohomology groups or some shit

Yeah, with the advent of Wolfram, many math captchas are broken, since scripts can just query and figure it out pretty quickly. Perhaps it needs things that involve charts and shit that requires visual aid and actual thought, which can't be done via a scripted query?

How would we take something simple like this worksheet and turn it into something that brainlets could not do? It is already bot proof by its very nature. We just need to translate it into something far more difficult. Though....I think this low level of problem would probably eradicate a shit load of people from /sci/. lol

The problem is that it takes a long time to read even if it is trivial. Showing a picture of a geometrical figure and asking for fundamental groups for instance is both impossible for dumb teens and very quick to solve for somebody that's educated. Also it is very easy to make the geometrical figure relatively random, so that googling won't help. This is an idea but we probably need other stuff since as time goes on they might figure out how it works. Maybe actual questions from hard IQ tests, like completing difficult sequences, would help. But then it shouldn't be number sequences because it's probably listed in OEIS. Also it would allow in the smart-but-not-necessarily-educated so its usefulness it debatable

I'd think that after a point there'd be websites dedicated to helping brainlets solve this shit to they can still spam.

Ah, didn't realize that was 3rd party and haven't seen anyone use it in forever. It can stay off the whitelist.

Hand written math expressions? We would maybe finally get usable photo to math for "higher" math (I'm undergrad so I know shit about higher math but you know what I mean). It would be so nice if I could just take a photo of my notes and export them into latex.

I thought that could happen now.
