There is a lot of nuance all the way down. I only gave the most broad example to make the issue clear. It seems very exceptional to be a young boy who didn't enjoy locomotion, maybe you had social anxiety and saw it as an opportunity to embarrass yourself (only guessing that because I had a bit of that).

Even down to finer details school requires a lot more memorization and acceptance without question of what is presented. Boys being naturally more aggressive will want to question things and there is no room for that in a system where standardized tests rule curriculum. Girls, more submissive, naturally accept what they are told and move on.

As a boy with two sisters in my same grade I learned to be submissive and get the good grades, but despite not being gay or thinking I am trans, I do notice many female qualities in myself and a lot of people think I am gay, so clearly I am not a good counter example.

It makes a lot of sense, assuming IQ is a good predictor of these things. Let's say the cutoff for a standards is 90 IQ. Female IQ has less variance, so more females will have an IQ over 90. If you looked at indicators of high achievement, based off of these assumptions males will be overrepresented, which is the case if you look at top scientists and executives.
