No, there's a test which uses blocks, to form different patters. (this tests your spacial reasoning).
And there's a audio-verbal test. Where you are told a story. You are then asked to recall the events in the story in chronological order, or are asked to specific questions about details in the story. This I believe tests your working memory. I'm not sure. I had a real IQ test done to me a few times in my life. It was to diagnose some suspected illnesses that I had, so they never disclosed the IQ score to me.

Discussions about IQ are mostly overblown, the results are ambiguous (and not because of what it looks like).

It's also worth mentioning that they are saying IQ is a result of environment and not genes. This is a significant difference. I've written about it before , where it's argued that many social constructions like intelligence and IQ are not based on evidence but rather it's "theory", "familiarization", etc, on which we don't even have hard data. I think this is where some of the tension comes in, as the new study does not make a clear argument that environment is not related to IQ.

Studies do not support their argument that IQ is the result of environment. There is one exception that they do include in the study, but it only has a small effect. They also do not include the possibility that the authors are making an argument which is not supported by the raw results of the study.

According to the instructions, you don't get penalized for the first mistake you make, meaning that with a max of 145, you'd require 2 mistakes to get 143. I deliberately guessed wrong for the problem marked A1 here, and chose F for B2, and got 142. I retook the test, answered the exact same way (again deliberately missing A1), and then chose D, and I got 145.

The answer to the one marked B2 here is D, and I have no clue how. The strategy >>10959648 described seems like it should work fine, especially when you factor in that each row has two items where the middle block is flanked by two same-color blocks.
