One ice core in Greenland will give you a local temperature, not a global average. So the graph is irrelevant to all the claims in the yellow box about what climate scientists said. Try looking at a global temperature reconstruction instead.

Other problems with the graph are that it does not tell us where it got what it calls "Present" temperatures and it uses a very small y axis for CO2. Is "Present" global temperatures? Greenland temperature? Neither can simply be appended to a local temperature trend as if they are compatible. The y axis of the CO2 tend is made incredibly small in order to arbitrarily minimize the change in CO2. This is a very primitive tactic and is indicative of the dishonesty of the person who made the graph.

It looks like there is no way we'll do a complete 180 and stop global warming before we're at 1,5 degrees warming, at which it will become self sufficient and we're fucked no matter what we do. It's not like we couldn't possibly stop it, we just don't care enough.

Source? 1.5 is essentially just an arbitrary target to focus on. Any mitigation of future warming will help, even though at least 1.5 degrees of warming is inevitable.

>> No.10779272

It's already too late.

We might be able to mitigate some heating effects with solar radiation management via aerosols, but we'll probably catastrophically fuck up global precipitation patterns and cause an equivalent amount of ecological damage in a different manner.

Just take the collapse pill and embrace our species reverting back to precivilization living by force. I mean you'll probably die in the process, but at least it's a good ending.

Oh also the temperature data appears to be plotted incorrectly. The data ends in 1855 yet is plotted as if it ends around 1950. This is a common mistake deniers make since they keep copying each other's badly made infographics. See: https://skepticalscience.com/10000-years-warmer.htm

I don't have a source. iirc at 1.5° some isesheets over carbondeposits will melt away and then new carbon enters the ecosystem withoit any human action. Thereby global warming will become self sufficient because new carbon enters the system by itself continuously.

The problem remains, that acting on climate change is equivalent to attacking the investment portfolio of the richest most powerful people and nations on earth. That has always been THE problem.

When you have people imagining a literal global conspiracy despite governments being so incompetent as to not hide a blow job then I don't know what world you live in. Seriously, these people believe it's a global conspiracy to control energy and money, but if these governments are already operating in tandem at this level, along with basically every major oil company that agrees climate change is real then they already won decades ago and control all the money and energy anyways so why the fuck even talk about climate change? My point is that in order for such a conspiracy to take place in the first place would require them to already have the power and then some that deniers claim they are trying to obtain with these policies.
