it's something they teach you in 7th grade biology when the student/teachers don't have the background necessary to learn/teach anything deeper than that. the scientific method isn't something that anyone outside of high school cares about.

the goal of all scientific fields is to observe, create a model that fits observation, and confirm/validate/refine that model through repeated experiment.

2: Fit current data to model of guess, preferably with small sample size
3: Use predictor with the largest shock factor
4: Change environmental US policy
5: Get paid for honest work
