We discuss research, offer advice (Just see your family physician), make fun of premeds, discuss residency and different specialties but we mostly shitpost.

If you want to discuss vaccines or clamping, please make your own thread because it takes a lot of replies and the discussion degenerates.

5 days ago suddenly I got 38°C temperature, headaches and slight discomfort swallowing, I thought it was a regular flu so I was just drinking ibuprofen once or twice a day. On a day 3 every symptom was gone, except for discomfort swallowing. I decided to look at my throat and found these little bumps at the back of my throat(as you can see at the pic I took).
What do? Right now I'm gargling it with salt+soda+iodine and chew propolis.
A little background: I had a strep throat couple of weeks ago, took antibiotics, had shit fatigue and loss of appetite afterwards, perhaps this is all due to my damaged immune system.

No, family physician salaries in western Europe fall in the 7k-10k bracket generally, so about 90k euros per year on average. Consider the taxes, and it's even less.
150k-200k is the average for the most well-paid specialties. Of course, docs can break 200k or even 250k in big cities, but it's uncommon.

I guess you already know but moving to the US with a European MD is really fucking hard, and you have to do a US residency so your income will be on the lower side for at least four to seven years.
But once that's done, I don't think there's much of a difference. If anything you'll be better off than your peers since you won't be in debt.
But if you want to leave Europe, I think Australia might be a better alternative as it's easier for European MDs to practice there, and the pay is similar to the US overall. Don't quote me on it though, just something I read.

Untrue. No other field guarantees such a high level of income.
Software eng/data science/ML? No, unless you live in one of the three or four areas on the planet that pay their programmers 250k
Law? Definitely not, most lawyers don't have a very high income, and the stress and required effort is pretty much just as bad as in medicine, if not worse.
Niche fields such as petroleum eng, exploration geology or quant finance? Just as competitive as the top specs in medicine if not more, work life balance is utter garbage and job stability is vastly inferior to medical professions.

For a guaranteed upper middle class lifestyle, medicine is still the best option.

This is the medical system. This is what you hand your newborn to, bow down and turn your head away ignoring you common sense and its screams in Molech's white hot hands. And you wait until it gives you back what's left, whatever the machine spat back out. Grateful your child will survive its passage through the flame, you take them in arm and pay those who stoke the fire, as even now it has begun for the next one.

Then come the vaccines, which in section 13 of the insert in all , it states as its sole content:
"[Vaccine] has not been tested for mutagenic potential, carcinogenic potential, or impairment of fertility." It's right there, in their own words.
Though they're incapable of an immune response, they are given the first of the hepatitis B series shortly after birth. It causes immune mediated brain damage, primes the brain for developmental disruption, and long term inflammatory neurodegeneratation. It also mangles parts of the parasympathetic system, weakening the child and its ability to withstand stress. Its damaged paraympathetic induces leaky gut and alters antigen expression, disrupting the microbiome. And who knows what else. We don't really know what was in them.

Many things. Close kiddo, but no cigar. As they drown out its screams in Molech's hands with the circus, and reverie, the parents sink down in silence and self delusion.

We need not even speak of what lies in store later, with Gardasil.

I saw the umbilical cord guy in the pharmacy yesterday. I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him about umbilical cords.

Then he said "They clamp the umbilical cord in less than a minute!"

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and waving an umbilical cord in my face. I shut up and continue to wait in line patiently. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the pharmacy with twenty umbilical cord clamps in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the clamps and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each one of them individually and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by clamping the umbilical cord from his pocket really loudly.

First I'd like to say my dad isn't a bad person, he's supported me, my mom, and my siblings all our lives and he's been good to us 99% of the time. My dad is also an alcoholic, as much as he refuses to believe it. He'll quit for long periods of time bu eventually goes back to binging on the weekends (I'm talking like 4 wine bottles and a 6 pack that day). It didn't affect him as much physically when he was younger, but lately he's been calling in work after being too sick/hungover and gets wasted until he passes out and drops his head and starts making these choking sounds so I go over to him, wake him up and he goes to bed. It's been sick watching him drink so much, he's going to die from it and he knows that which makes this even more frustrating.

So today is Father's day and we're all planning on taking him out to eat, he knows that. He comes home completely wasted with a bottle of wine in his hand, and another 24 pack in his passenger side. Something inside me triggers and I've had enough (note I probably should have dealt with this differently), so I open the car door, take the bottle and all hell breaks loose. He starts attacking me telling me I think I'm some bigshot now because I was accepted in med school and that I'm an ungrateful punk. He also says he's the reason why I got in and I'm where I'm at today because of him (along with supporting me financially, he's helped me in alot of other ways, he works at a hospital and hooked me up with physicians to shadow who even wrote me a LOR). I go back at him telling him he's an alcoholic and we're all sick of it, and I'm not going to allow him to drink at the house anymore. Long story short, we get into a physical altercation and he ends up packing up and leaving the house. I once heard that the truth comes out when you're drunk, and it hurts that he feels that way about me - that I'm ungrateful for what he's done for me when it's further from the truth.

>The "Cure" is achieved by poisoning, cutting, and irradiating the living fuck out of the host.
>30 units of the cure has a 13,000 price tag
It's not a sham, it's evil. Look into ethnopharmacology and the constituents of various herbs, start looking at their anti-tumor activities. Look at what they did Hoxsey, Royal Rife, and countless others. Cancer is a metabolic and signalling disorder, somatic cell theory is garbage and we've wasted trillions chasing little genes absolutely nowhere. Some cancers are caused by disrupted membrane mediated signal transduction, others are caused by microorganisms. Most likely L-forms, and what Rife called "Bacillus X". Virginia Livingston found the same organism.

Research has been done to carefully remove the "cancerous" daughter cells from the tumor environment, then place them near normal cells. They again differentiate and become normal cells. Yeah, where's your "genetic damage" now? Nowhere, unless there's some stuff like water memory going on where the genes are reconstructed based on the others communicating the correct template.

We think about its genesis and nature incorrectly. We don't bother to prevent it. We lie about it. We make it worse during diagnosis (aspirates and other rupturing of the tumor environment). And we treat it barbarically. It's disgusting, it preys on people's faith, fear, and ignorance (mine included), and it's completely evil.

There are two separate issues. First, medicine inherently requires a lot of rote memorization. It's hard to comprehend the sheer volume of info one has to acquire in med school unless you've done it, but the analogy of drinking from a firehose is accurate. Having done a masters in physics before I went to med school, I can say there is no comparison. Physics is cognitively difficult, but it doesn't begin to approach medicine in terms breadth and volume of information. So instead of learning everything deeply, you learn what you can and memorize the rest to avoid falling behind (and you can't just take extra time like you can in grad school, it's basically career suicide) There are also many things in medicine that simply need to be memorized. Clinical presentations of diseases, drugs and their mechanisms and adverse reactions, causative organisms and their antibiotic sensitivities, protocols, guidelines, scoring criteria, and the like simply can't be worked out from first principles reliably or quickly enough for use in practice or to pass licensing exams.

Second, medical students are for the most part only slightly above average intelligence, but extremely hard working. That predisposes them to academic performance through brute force rather than understanding, which is unfortunate but just as well since it's an essential skill in med school. The highest performing med students have excellent critical thinking skills and find a good balance between deep learning and memorization, but anyone who doesn't do a significant amount of memorization won't make it past the first semester. Average med students develop critical thinking skills during rotations and residency when there's more emphasis on clinical reasoning than pure information acquisition.

Not really, if you're smart you'll probably do fine. The main thing is to just be aware that you will need to memorize to be successful and don't put it off when the time comes. It's not a difficult skill to pick up. Understand that you'll be exposed to more info than you can possibly retain, but you may be tested on all of it, so your scores will largely depend on how much you can recall. So pay close attention to your pace and don't get bogged down trying to study something in too much detail. It'll hurt a lot more if you miss multiple things you could have easily memorized because you were overly fixated on one topic.

Finally, if you're American, remember that your career more or less lives or dies by your step 1 score, and unlike the MCAT, step is primarily a knowledge-based test rather than a test of reasoning skills. The scope of the test should give you a good idea of how much you need to cover in the first two years so you can pace yourself accordingly.

>> No.10731554

There are so many I don't even know where to begin. Spaced repetition is essential. The more you work with the info (drawing diagrams, summarizing and restating, etc) the better. Also, it's extremely important to have some kind of structure for the info you're trying to memorize. It's hard to memorize a hundred disconnected pieces of information, but if you can relate them somehow into groups of 3-5, then relate those groups to other groups, and so on with some kind of hierarchical structure, you can work back from there to recall whatever you need. The structure can be completely artificial (method of loci) or based on logical categories, body systems, anatomical location, or whatever. The key is just to relate ideas into some kind of map that will help you navigate back to them later.
