How the FUCK did the brain not know it was the brain? For thousands of years the brain thought it was just some vaguely useful gland. In a lot of cultures the dead got their brains thrown out before getting buried too.
Isn't it a little bit fucky?

After you are buried, you don't have much use for a brain, to be fair.

Am I the only one that realizes that you aren't actually behind your eyes? That's just where your consciousness is projected.

color doesnt exist. smell doesnt exist. taste doesnt exist.
matter may objectively exist but we don't perceive it with our eyes. our eyes take in waves of light and our brain then interprets these and constructs the world we see. with eyes only we couldn't even notice glass we need touching for that and some reasoning ability.
other animals dont even understand glass

Because I read books. It was widely believed the heart was where your counsciousness was well in the 17th century. I remember reading a short text about the "ipse dixit" principle, where two fucks argue.

you're probably somewhere in a loop around a cortical region e.g. left superior temporal gyrus and sub-cortical processor in that case left amygdala and what you call you "subjective experience" is just a conscious awareness of that cortical/sub-cortical loop and what you think of as an "outside world" is just visual ego-centric information fed to your little conscious loop by the right superior parietal lobule and occipital lobe.

People dont know how the vast majority of their body works even though their brain manages it all day everyday so its not suprising. If you're an old timey fuck why would you suspect you are your brain?

I find this hard to believe. People must have known tht heard injuries make you stupid, they did trepanations, possibly to cure insanity. They must have always known.

Wasn’t decapitation the favored method of execution for centuries? Surely people must have figured that removing the head from the rest of the body would result in almost instantaneous death, much quicker than with any other method of execution. How long does it take for a person to die after their heart has been removed?

This, but to dumb it down a bit, you are everywhere you see because what you see is simply a function of your self awareness to begin with.
